Here is my May entry for the @minutemonologue challenge! 🎬
.
This month the theme was funny and I just love this monologue so was happy for a chance to finally bring it to life. Here is me as Alexa from The Fungus Among Us by Joseph Arnone. 🎭
.
Unfortunately I had to cut it down a little to fit it into 1 minute, but I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed getting this exasperated over a fridge! 😂 taken in London, United Kingdom by @lydiakayactor

I really enjoyed the chance to get my teeth into this male monologue by Morgan in The Walking Dead.

I’m feeling SO honoured to have made it into the top 100 monologues for this competition from over 2000 entries! 😮

A huge thank you to @ccrcasting for running this fab competition, for taking the time to watch a crazy number of monologues, and for giving me the chance to play a character that never normally would have. 🙌🏻 .

Why tell the story through the eyes of a child?

It is important to show the full impact that domestic violence and abuse has and how it can impact survivors. We often see domestic violence spoken about with regards to women and girls, but this issue is much larger and more complex than just that.

With our short film John Boy, we intend to bring attention to these areas as well as raising awareness of domestic abuse and violence as a whole. We will also be creating an awareness pack to go with the film that will contain information, resources, and ways to reach out for help.

Please do keep showing your support for our crowdfunding campaign by liking and sharing our posts, and sharing the link to our crowdfunding campaign which you can find in our bio.

Together, let’s do better. ❤️

Find out what producing on John Boy means for Lydia, and why she works as a film producer.

If you’re following and supporting our film and have a question that you’d like to ask the team making this film, about John boy or about filmmaking in general, then please comment and ask us. We’d be happy to answer and share more, without too many spoilers of course!

We really appreciate all of the support being shown for John Boy, but what we need most now is to help our crowdfunding campaign reach more people. So we’d be super grateful if you could hit the repost button, share our posts and the link to the crowdfunder to your stories, and tell people you know about the film. Thank you so much. 🙌🏻

What a year we had with this film last year!!! Seeing all the laurels on a poster like this really puts our festival run into perspective, and we’re still going as we’ve already had more screenings and another award in 2026 so far…

We’re so proud of the team we worked with on ‘The Man That I Wave At’ and so it fills us with joy to see their hard work and creativity being recognised as the film continues to do well. 🥰
