The People’s Porridge Princess (PPP)

A bizarre treat to spend a long weekend in Carrbridge at The @goldenspurtle World Porridge Making Championships, supporting @p_o_r_r_i_d_g_e in her love of porridge. Surprisingly emo(a)tional business 🥣

Always stir clockwise or you’ll let the devil in! taken in Carrbridge by @lydwak

Exactly a year ago, I handed in my MSc dissertation (thank you Hazel for reminding me/embarrassed that I’m still telling people I’ve “just finished a master’s” when they ask what I’ve been up to). I’ve been meaning to say something about it for ages but now I’ve got around to saying it, all the words have left my head. Hopefully not the knowledge though.

A brief break from photos to share a small visual identity I worked on in early 2023 for @partypolice__’s open mic night, Grasp.

Swim(ish) 06 — we got up extra early to get to this one, it was our most treacherous climb down (+ even worse back up), but we battled the rain and arrived at: this. Absolutely gorgeous but slightly terrifying. We can be responsible, sometimes, when we have to be, so we did a quick dunk but no swimming. Then a soggy struggle back up through the fields to the car before work/uni. Still one of my favourite places we visited though. by @lydwak

Swim 05 — no dramatic stories this time. Nice little swim, nice little stroll on the harbour wall with a flask of coffee. Nice little bowl of cheerios and strawberries when we got home. by @lydwak

Swim 04 — this one I am posting quickly and with much pain. Picture the scene, it's Valentine's day, and I'm Andy's dull second wife. What better place for a deeply romantic swim than the estate that provided the inspiration for Dauphne Du Maurier's 1938 gothic novel Rebecca?

We parked up at the top of the climb down to the cove, with the sunrise not quite upon us but the promise of it peering from over the cliff's edge. We stumbled down the path, the coastal views unfolding with every step, until we found ourselves at the mouth of the very cove where Rebecca unremarkably possibly went missing in very normal unsuspicious circumstances. I reached for my camera to capture the beauty of the moment, which is when I realised... I'd left the battery charging in the kitchen.

Anyway, here are some very underwhelming iPhone photos of the morning that I am too sad to do a nice edit on so please be nice to me.

I bet his sexy first wife would've remembered her battery. by @lydwak

Swim 03 — finally editing after a brief three month hiatus for uni / work / forgetting I started a project purposes.

This cove is very sweet, it has litter pickers + buckets for visitors to borrow. Nice to take a dip and do our bit. by @lydwak
