Happy Birthday to Mark Farner — a man whose voice could break through walls and whose songs carried the soul of a generation, yet somehow never received the recognition his extraordinary talent deserved. I have always struggled to accept what happened to Grand Funk Railroad. When Don and Mel squeezed Mark out, they didn’t simply lose a member of the band — they lost its heart, its soul, and the voice that gave the music its fire. And truthfully, I may still be more upset about that than Mark is. Because Mark chose another path: rather than living in the shadow of what was taken from him, he kept walking toward what was still possible. That is what I admire most about him. After all these years, his heart remains open, his voice remains astonishing, and the music in him still refuses to be quiet. Some artists spend their lives trying to prove what they once were; Mark keeps showing us what he still is. May we be lucky enough to have him rockin’ for at least another decade — because the world still needs that voice, that soul, and that beautiful refusal to stop moving forward. For six decades, Bruce Springsteen has devoted himself to the craft of writing songs that give voice to the lives, dreams, struggles, and hopes of ordinary people. He never surrendered to the voices telling him what might make him more successful; his ambition was simpler and deeper—to become a great songwriter, and to perform those songs with the passion, urgency, and truth with which they were written. He understood that a concert could become more than a performance—it could become a gathering place, where strangers became a family, united for a few hours by music. His extraordinary work ethic, commitment to his craft, and refusal to stop reaching for something greater have inspired generations of artists to honor their own creative voices. Happy Birthday to an artist whose greatest gift may be reminding us that artistry is not only about talent, but about devotion. #happybirthday #brucespringsteenfans by @lynngoldsmith

I don’t think I’ve shared this photo before, taken by the brilliant @lynngoldsmith. I was looking through images related to winter for the show in #Oslo at Kampen Kirke on December 4th, and was reminded just why Lyn is regarded as one of the best there is. We’re so looking forward to perform for this wintery city again in just a few months. by @lynngoldsmith

Today is the last day of the @affordableartfairnyc at Booth C23 @contessagallery has my rock mosaics, which are pieces of art that I select one image but fill it with over 2000 images to show that ARTIST at work and the people involved in making them who they are. They have a Mick and a Keith, which are made up of images I created over 25 years and they’ve got Bruce as you can see here which is filled with images that include the E St. band, Photographs for all rock mosaics include those in rehearsal, in concert. in preparation of what it takes to be an artist. They also have a few of my self portraits from #thelookingglass . I’ve informed Contessa that they can give a discount on the work. I rarely do this so if you’re in the city and are interested, the fair is open until 5 PM. 11th Ave. and 26th St. by @lynngoldsmith

@nicoleatkins performed songs @americanafest from her new album DRAMA on @sunrecordcompany .. joining her on stage was @sansonic1 , who produced the record, and @chrisisaak …
After the show I was backstage and the compliments from Chris to Nicole about her songwriting, her voice, and who she is as a person were some of the nicest things I’ve ever heard anyone say to anybody. I’ve never met him before and was really impressed by his humor and his support of another artist. . taken in Analog at Hutton Hotel by @lynngoldsmith

@nicoleatkins album #DRAMA is out today.. Nicole is one of those rare people whose talent is matched by an extraordinary work ethic—she gives her all to whatever she touches, turning vision into something real. Yet what makes her truly special is that she never keeps her light to herself; she uses her energy, generosity, and belief in others to help their talents rise alongside her own. artists like her deserve your support.. congratulate her by downloading the album produced by @sansonic1 taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @lynngoldsmith

Dante’s Divine Comedy, written in the first third of the 14th century, continues to be a living work. It inspires one to consider their actions in life. On the entrance of Dante’s Inferno the inscription reads “Abandon all hope.” This sinister engraving warned all the damned that once they entered the abyss they would not be able to get out. Painter, poet, teacher, Jordi Díaz Alamà, explores the architecture of Hell as a metaphorical location, describing the vastness and dreadful everydayness of the most terrifying of all imagined prisons. I find myself hopeful that the idea of Hell is real so that Trump and those who support his unconstitutional agendas which are ruining the lives of people now. as well as those of coming generations, will be held accountable for the consequences of their actions. I am very aware that I am closer to the end than the beginning. I want every day to be filled with friends who inspire me, who are concerned with the environment, with the health of the planet and all of the people on it.
Tme feels more urgent - and that’s good because I am even more determined to make the most of it.
Photo1- fun with Jamieson Webster and Alma; Photos 2, 3: friend Jody has a show open @nancyhoffmangallery
Photo 4, 5: riding my bike around a city that inspires me, from its architecture to its inhabitants - Photo 6: close-up on Maysey Craddock show @searspeytongallery- paper bags are her surface Photo 7 - a couple taking photos of their dog on a chair they found on the street. Photo 8 - Man not afraid to see himself as the art he creates. Photo 9 - street art that makes me smile. Photo 10 - drinks @manuela with friend @micheleokadoner
Photo 11- said his name was Kyle - he stopped us because he loved the way Michele looked - we chatted, and it felt so good to be open and interested - Photo 12 - riding home, my last stop was in front of this church: “Come to me, all those who labor and are burdened, I will give you rest” taken in New York, New York by @lynngoldsmith

The blue towers of light slice the warm dark September night in the city. From where I stand at Little Island, the angles shift and the two columns fuse into a single, blinding beacon—a solitary spine of pure memory piercing the stars. Twenty five years ago today, we were broken into a million jagged pieces, but now in this incandescent glow, we gathered to remember those we lost on that day and those we have lost since who gave of themselves to help others. New York heals by absorbing the ache into its muscle; tonight, that unified beam is a bridge between the dead and the living, a fierce refusal to ever let the light go out. #ilovenyc #911 taken in Little Island NYC by @lynngoldsmith

Photo 1 - In Sarasota, Fla., Dave Berry and Jennifer Rominiecki of @selbygardens took me to see their second “campus” at the historic Spanish Point. The Halloween installation was happening, and since it is my favorite holiday, my spirits were totally uplifted. Photo 2 - See what my casting a spell to Dave and Jennifer!
Photo 3- orchids seem to be everywhere . Photo 4 and 5 - on the grounds of the botanical garden, I came upon the most beautiful flower @Erica_m125. She is celebrating her 15th birthday !!!! Photo 6 - a surprise appearance of singer and actress Martha Velez who came to my talk. I photographed her over 40 years ago for the only album Bob Marley ever produced. I have a book she wrote “Success from Fail Street’ - the street she llved on ! looking forward to the read…Photo 7 - me right before I ran into the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico - Photo 8 - a video voiced by @thisispattismith who introduced me to this wonderful place….To walk barefoot through soft sand and surrender to crystal-clear waters is to let nature quiet the noise within us. For a little while, the earth holds us gently, and the spirit remembers how to breathe, feel, and simply be. I am ready to return to New York tomorrow and take part in the remembrance of September 11 attack. by @lynngoldsmith
