The Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner exhibition was crowded. Late Monday afternoons in museums are usually quiet, so seeing so many gathered around their work felt like its own kind of celebration.I was especially happy to see their paintings shown together. It deepened my appreciation of Lee—not only for the power of her work, but for the woman behind it, her resilience, her independence, and the life she forged as an artist in a world that did not always make room for her. @jill.greenberg joined me, and there is a particular pleasure in experiencing art with someone who is also a painter, someone with whom I can share thoughts about the work and recognize the familiar roads we have traveled, each in our own way, as artists and photographers. There is something wonderful about seeing through another artist’s eyes while discovering how much our own vision is shaped by the journeys we have taken. We also saw the Costume Art. It explores the dressed body through thematic sections and should not be missed. As we left the museum, we passed a series of Rodin sculptures. After the raw emotion and personal struggle that seemed to pulse through the paintings, his work spoke to me differently. I felt less the weight of an artist wrestling with his inner world and more the presence of someone reaching beyond himself, giving form to a connection with something greater—a higher power, perhaps—and inviting us to share in that mystery. Three artists. Three ways of making the invisible visible. And a reminder that art can emerge from our deepest struggles, our most private truths, or our sense of connection to something beyond ourselves. #art #jacksonpollack #leekrasner #costumeart

Four pairs of shoes. Four future legends. One teenage photographer.

In February 1964, a young Lynn Goldsmith encountered The Beatles in Miami Beach.

Among the photographs she made was this remarkable image—not of their faces, but of their shoes.

It's an early glimpse of the distinctive perspective that would eventually help define her extraordinary career photographing some of the world's most influential musicians and cultural figures.

All these years later, Goldsmith's photographs continue to demonstrate that there's often more to a portrait than meets the eye.

Discover her remarkable journey in ARS GLORIA's latest feature, 'Lynn Goldsmith: Beyond the Frame.'

“Love me tender, love me sweet. Never let me go, you have made my life complete...” || On this day in 1956, Elvis Presley’s (@elvis) “Love Me Tender” entered the US singles chart, beginning a record-breaking 19-week climb to the coveted No. 1 spot where the ballad would come to stay for five weeks before being unseated by Guy Mitchell’s “Singing The Blues.”

Recorded for the 20th Century Fox film of the same title, “Love Me Tender” is an adaptation of an 1861 Civil War song entitled “Aura Lee” which has since been covered by the likes of Nat King Cole, Johnny Cash, Julie Andrews, Linda Ronstadt, Frank Sinatra, Jim Morrison, Barbara Streisand and Norah Jones among countless other contemporary icons.

LV RUNNER

The Louvre’s Cour Carrée took on the look of a futuristic city for @NicolasGhesquiere’s latest show for @LouisVuitton. A journey through time, a journey through space, but above all, a fashion journey.

This season, Nicolas Ghesquière immersed us in an ‘80s science fiction film, in the vein of "Blade Runner" or "Star Wars", but with a Vuitton twist; the set featured 'flying' cars decorated with the house’s iconic Damier pattern.

The designer’s retro-futuristic style resonated with the show’s music, straight out of the 1980s. As night fell over Paris, "Adventures in Success" began to play within the walls of the Louvre Museum.

The intriguing Will Powers is actually an alter ego of American photographer @LynnGoldsmith, who recorded the track by altering her voice to make it sound more masculine. The song comes from the only album by the fictional experimental synth-pop artist, "Dancing For Mental Health" (1983), a blend of personal development themes & electronic sounds.

Two songs by the American group The Art of Noise—or Art of Noise—followed: "Peter Gunn", featuring American guitarist @DuaneEddyOfficial, & "Kiss", featuring actor & singer Tom Jones.

The first song samples no fewer than four tracks, but above all draws on the "Peter Gunn Theme", composed by Henry Mancini in 1958 for the TV series of the same name. It was also covered in 1980 by the Blues Brothers. "Kiss", meanwhile, is a cover of Prince’s famous song released in 1986.

@LaurieAndersonOfficial closed the show with her track "Let X=X"from her 1982 album "Big Science", which also features the famous "O Superman", & "Born, Never Asked", heard this season at Isabel Marant.

The show’s music embodied the essence of 1980s experimental music & served as the perfect soundtrack for a science fiction film—& thus for this futurist-inspired show.
