The American Dream didn’t start with us — but it’s on us to build it.

Lynn and I, both daughters of immigrants, unpack the invisible pressure to excel professionally and be the backbone of our families.

Our parents sacrificed everything so we could have education, opportunity, and freedom — and we carry that legacy every day.

If you’re an immigrant daughter, this one will hit home.

Con Lynn hablamos de honrar los sacrificios de nuestros padres mientras navegamos la presión de sobresalir, cuidar a la familia y sostenerlo todo. taken in Austin, Texas by @lynnintech

Story time! ✨

Here is a prime example why networking is so important!

About 5 years ago I was working as a Nail Technician in a salon, going to school full time at a local college to get my Associates degree in Computer Science. šŸ’»

In order to get full credits for my degree, I was required to complete an internship for one of the trimesters.

The thing is, whenever I would be working on clients at the salon, I would have a lot of in depth conversations with them so many knew I was in school for CS.

One of my clients (not knowing I needed an internship to fulfill all my credits) let me know that her friend had a startup and was looking for developers!! 😲

She contacted him and I interviewed that week. The CTO knew I was a student but was impressed by my drive and my basic knowledge of CS already. I landed the internship that day.

I got to learn so much really fast since you get to wear a lot of hats working for a startup. I was granted a FT role at the company as a Software Developer. 6 months later, after proving myself and taking initiative on the data, i became the Machine Learning Engineer. 🤩

My career in tech all stemmed from my conversations I would have with my clients… which is why it’s so important to network because you never know who you will meet 🄰

I’m so grateful and fortunate for my experience in the service industry to pivot the way for my experience in tech. It’s been a true dream come true. ā™„ļø by @lynnintech

It’s been a little over a year since I joined Onnit Gym, and what a transformative journey it has been.

I joined at a pivotal moment in my life, when everything felt chaotic and uncertain. I knew I wanted to find a community where I could belong, feel motivated, and channel my energy into my overall growth. Onnit has been that sanctuary for me.

To my non-Austin friends, if you ever visit this city, Onnit is not just a gym, its a supportive community filled with incredible individuals who are driven, eager to connect, and committed to putting in the damn work.

I am immensely grateful for my trainer, Juan and the Woman’s Program. Juan has pushed me beyond my limits, helping me build not only physical strength, but also resilience and determination. The women in our group are more than just workout partners; they have become my close friends, my cheerleaders, my inspiration, and not to mention they’re all strong as f*ck. šŸ˜
Their support is unwavering and every session is always empowering.

Joining Onnit has been one of the best decisions of my life. It’s not just about the workouts; it’s about the camaraderie, the encouragement, and the shared journey towards better versions of ourselves. Here’s to many more years of growth, strength, and unforgettable memories. ā¤ļøšŸ’Ŗ

Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Sagrada Família.

Just two days before the centennial anniversary of Antoni Gaudi’s passing, I had the honor to step inside a vision that he dedicated his life to.

Construction began in 1882, Gaudi taking over the construction the following year. He transformed the basilica into much more than a church. He created a place that connected Earth and Heaven, faith and nature, humanity and the divine.

Walking through it, you can feel the intention behind every piece of detail. Gaudi believed nature was God’s greatest architect and he designed the Sagrada so that beauty was present in every direction you looked. A detail that also stood out, was his decision to ensure the completed Tower of Jesus Christ was lower than Barcelona’s highest natural point… because no creation of man, should surpass the creation of God.

Nearly 145 years after construction began, the final tower, the Tower of Jesus Christ is complete. And while Gaudi never got to see his final result, he devoted his life to it anyway, famously saying ā€œMy client is not in a hurry.ā€

There is something powerful in that kind of faith, a reminder of how we should move through life.

Trust the process, keep creating, keep building, and keep believing.

I left feeling grateful; for faith, for creation, and for the reminder that life’s most meaningful works are not measured by how quickly they are completed, but the purpose they carry and the lives they inspire along the way. šŸ‡ŖšŸ‡øšŸ™ taken in La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona, EspaƱa by @lynnintech

Sat down with my friend Lynn to talk about how she uses fitness as an outlet for stress and a tool to build resilience and character.

We dive into embracing the discomfort, trusting the process, and remembering that even when it feels hard in the moment, it does get better—and it does get easier over time. A powerful reminder that growth is built one rep, one day, one choice at a time.

----------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes the biggest shifts come from the smallest ā€œyes.ā€

In my early 20s, I was working full-time as a nail technician and going to school full-time for Computer Science.

I only had my associate’s degree, zero industry experience, and I wasn’t even sure if this path was meant for me.

Then one day, this is where I learned that the power of networking is real.

A client that knew of my studies mentioned her boss’s dad was building a startup and asked if I’d want to interview. I didn’t feel ā€œready.ā€ I didn’t feel ā€œgood enough.ā€ But I said yes anyway.

That yes changed my entire life.

I got my first job in tech as a developer on the first day I interviewed.

Two months into the role as a developer, I identified a gap in their AI model and created an algorithm that took their model from 60% to 80% accuracy overnight. If you understand AI, you know how huge that improvement is. Sometimes just a 1-2% improvement is huge.

The CTO immediately shifted me to focus on Machine Learning.

That moment became the domino effect for my entire career.

I finished my Bachelors in Computer Science and recognized that in the industry, no one would take me seriously unless I had a higher education, so I earned my Masters in Data Science from Berkeley.

I had no idea that yes would lead to discovering my passion in AI/ML, to be able to build phenomenal things, to be a part of this growing evolution.

Was it luck? Maybe.
But it was also just a simple yes.
A yes that scared me.
A yes that rerouted my entire life.

We only miss out on opportunities we don’t take. You never know where it’ll take your life. taken in Austin, Texas by @lynnintech

Happy Earth Day šŸ’™šŸŒŽ

ā€œLike leafless trees waiting for morning, something as great and constant as the Earth holds us up and turns us ever so slowly toward the light.ā€

All we ever need is before us, around us, within us.

A gentle, yet powerful reminder of the beautiful life we have here, on Earth. šŸ’š

Huge gratitude to @melrobbins for introducing the Book of Awakening when I was listening to her podcasts. @mark_nepo’s words are moving. I highly suggest this book as a daily practice! by @lynnintech
