Same soul. More life. 🤍

I’m learning that life after 50 isn’t about becoming someone new.

It’s about becoming more curious, more courageous and more fully yourself.

About looking after your body, feeding your mind, making things, seeing new places, asking better questions and still being excited about what might be around the next corner.

This is my philosophy of living curiously.

Lynsey 🤍

This page is a reflection of the way I choose to live.

I believe it’s never too late to learn something new, create something beautiful, or begin another chapter.

This is The Philosophy of Living Curiously.

Original acrylic on canvas
Artist: Lynsey Young · 2026

One of my original abstract landscape paintings.

Built slowly through layers of texture, muted tones and movement, allowing the painting to evolve intuitively.

I never quite know where a painting is going when I begin — I think that’s part of what I love about making them.

Original artwork by Lynsey Young

I’ll be sharing more of my paintings, works in progress and original pieces available to purchase here.

BOOKS FOR DARKER EVENINGS 🕯️

There’s something about autumn that makes me want stranger stories, darker settings and a little bit of fear.

I think I’ve always been drawn to gothic fiction because it sits somewhere between fear and fascination.

Perhaps that’s why Dracula remains such a favourite of mine.

It isn’t simply a story about a monster. It’s atmosphere, mortality, desire, obsession, darkness and the unknown.

And perhaps that’s what good gothic literature does so well — it makes us curious about the things we’re supposed to be afraid of.

So I’ve put together a little reading list for darker evenings, from gothic classics to more contemporary stories.

Dracula · The Silent Companions · The Woman in Black · Mexican Gothic · Frankenstein · We Have Always Lived in the Castle

Some I know and love, others are waiting patiently on my reading list.

Now I want to know…

What’s the book you’d recommend for a dark autumn evening? 🕯️📚

Tell me your favourite gothic, atmospheric or unsettling read below — I’m always looking for the next book to disappear into.

Apparently I would have made a terrible witch. 😂🖤

Far too curious.
Far too opinionated.
And far too fond of asking questions.

Good job I was born in this century. 😏

Anyone else? 🧙🏻‍♀️

Synthesis 003

Can we stop ageing?

Probably not. 😂

But perhaps the more interesting question is: how do we want to live as we grow older?

I went down the rabbit hole to find out what the science actually says — and what’s simply good marketing.

This is Synthesis 003.
A little curiosity, a little science, and a lot of thinking about what it means to grow older well.

World Menopause day. PLEASE SHARE — let’s help raise awareness of such an important subject 🤍

A day to talk about menopause.
But perhaps more importantly, a day to ask how much we still don’t know.

I’ve been researching something I think is worth talking about.
18th October.

Atelier 004 | six paintings in progress
So… I’ve started something. 🎨

Six canvases, all at the same time, and absolutely no idea where any of them are going yet 😂

I’ve been sat staring at these blank canvases for ages, I’m trying not to overthink it or decide what the finished paintings are supposed to look like before I’ve even started.

So this is the beginning — just the first layers, a few colours, some marks and a vague feeling that something might eventually emerge from all of it. 🤍

I thought I’d share the process as I go, because I’m quite curious to see where they end up too.

Here we go… six paintings in progress. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Reflection 011
Some things are felt before they are understood.

I don’t really know what it is about the sea.

I just know that something in me softens when I’m near it — sometimes I can even feel it physically, somewhere deep in my stomach.

Maybe our bodies recognise things before our minds find the words.

ATELIER 001

I’ve always admired Leonardo da Vinci—not because he mastered so many disciplines, but because he never stopped being curious.

That relentless curiosity has always inspired me—and yes… I’m a little obsessed! 😂

These are two drawings from my sketchbook exploring realism and perspective.

A reminder that learning never really ends.

Stay curious.
