mini day in the life as a climbing gym co-owner ✨

sometimes I don’t climb because I feel like I can’t have fun if all my business tasks aren’t done.

but I told myself it’s okay if everything isn’t done today.
we work really hard to take care of this place, and I don’t want to get burned out by it.

my practice today was giving myself credit for how hard i’ve been working and enjoying what we’ve created 🧡 taken in Nevada Climbing Center by @lyraonarock

** Don’t be a crag killer **

The local climbing etiquette that is known in the Red Rock Canyon State Park is when it rains we need to give the rock a few days to dry before climbing outside again.

Climbing wet rock in Red Rock is not only a safety hazard, but ultimately results in the sandstone getting weaker when it’s wet, and by climbing on it you risk breaking holds, which ruins routes and endangers yourself or others.

Spend your time climbing indoors with friends and let that desert sun do its job until everything is dry. Doing this takes care of our outdoors and the things we love about it because we’re not the only ones out here to enjoy it.

Stay Wild & Free 🧡

People use the word “wild” with a negative connotation. As if being wild was a bad thing. Wild doesn’t mean losing control of yourself 🤪

It means letting go of the expectations others put on you and losing yourself to the present. It means trusting yourself, your true and authentic self. Meeting your needs and nobody else’s while living a full and conscious life ✨

You were born to be free. Free to be yourself and everything that you thought was impossible 🌈

The mountains, the trees, the rivers, the valleys and everything in-between were meant to be wild and meant to be free. Just like you 🏕️

That is why every purchase supports the education and protection of our Nevada outdoors 🏜️

Many communities use it as a resource for recreation, adventure, and connection. If we don’t take care of these lands and it’s indigenous peoples and habitats, then what will we have left to connect with our true selves?

What will we have left that is meant to be wild & free?

Mary Jane on a Sunday ☀️
Coming back to sport climbing after a long time is daunting, but the best people make it worth the scary falls, ripped skin, and beat up bodies 🫶🏽

Another adventure wearing Malaya’s V-Neck Crop Top and bouldering in our sacred desert 🧡🏜️

I love showing my family the wonders of being outdoors, and this time I got to bring my cousin out climbing for the first time.

It’s a magical experience staying out until the sun goes down. I feel like the last time I really enjoyed something like that was when I was a kid.

I know we don’t get those moments often so when it does happen appreciate it. Life keeps us busy and distracted all the time from really good things, but if you take a minute to stay present and notice the sun setting or the loving company around you, remember to cherish it.

It’s not often where time seems to stand still 🧡

Thank you for a beautiful spring season 🌼 (even though it only lasted a few weeks and majority of the time it was wet 🌧️)

But the desert holds many surprises. Swipe to see my friend, the desert tortoise 🐢

I have so much gratitude for the way mother nature is just giving this spring👌🏽✨

Taking morning hikes before the sun peaks, witnessing the wild cacti blooming, and connecting with the Earth through climbing are core outdoor memories.

Take care of our wild outdoors, be grateful we get to experience and share it with others, protect it, and leave it better than you found it 🫶🏽 🌎 🌵

P.S. Do you know the name of my little lizard friend on the last slide? 🦎

Climbing and Outdoor Archive 🏔️ ☀️

I have a bad habit of comparing my current active lifestyle with the one I had back in 2020/2021, and sometimes I need to remind myself that it’s okay if I’m not out there every weekend touching rocks. The panorama was a different time and I was also injured for a long time.

This is my note to give myself grace. I will be back at my usual routine and it will be even better 🧡

Starting over is so hard.
A little lesson from climbing that also related to my life and it’s growing pains:
•
My goal with climbing isn’t to onsight every route I put my hands on. I enjoy climbing for the small improvements I make every day. I was at my best when these photos were taken. Attempting an outdoor climb that made me feel strong. Even when I didn’t finish it, I was so happy. It was the first time I came further than I ever had with a difficult bouldering route outdoors. I promised I would work hard to come back and finish it.
•
Then I had my first real injury that set me back almost 3 full months with no climbing… it was very difficult to keep in mind that I only needed to make small moves every day to gain my strength back.
•
Eventually, I will feel as strong as I did before, is what I would tell myself. Sending this route and many others will always be there. Also something I told myself. But I also had my negatives - I was so good at it now I suck, Everyone is doing so much better, I should’ve stuck to what I knew, I shouldn’t have taken a chance on that move/decision, I wish I had done this thing instead etc.
•
So on record for my sake, even though those negs creep into my mind once in a while, I can’t forget the other things that I’ve improved on since coming back from my injury and the love and support I’ve gained from starting over. I wouldn’t have learned what my body and mind needed in order to improve. During my time off, I found that not only did my climbing need a change, but my career and also my relationships.
•
I learned that every chapter of our life goes through seasons and cycles. There will be amazing days where everything feels so right, and there are times when things have outgrown their place in our lives and must end to make room for the new. I am sure that I’m on the edge of an incredible change, and I can only hope for bright days ahead.
