what a journey it’s been to get this little one into our lives…

friends~ meet Willa Maeve Hopes, the newest and cutest member of our pack❤️‍🔥🐴 She decided she was ready for this world 13 days early, making a dramatic appearance on February 18th.

I think we’re both a bit shocked at how easily she has fit into our lives, like she was never not there.

as we prepare to leave on our yearly adventure, I can’t stop thinking about our magical journey through Indonesia this time last year.. and also realized we somehow never shared any of Alex’s beautiful photos🦋✨

ready to get out of the western world bubble we live in and regenerate my soul and spirit once again..

this time we’ll be in Oaxaca for a month, in the city, the mountains and the coast. will take reccs for any must dos/hikes/eats if you have them!🫶🏼

🤍🕊️sweet little soft Sid dog, LSD, the George to Zeva’s Lennie, little bud..
losing you has felt like more than losing a pet, and a family member — it feels like the end of an era, the loss of a little legend.

Sid is the reason for so many things. He is a few of the reasons I met Alex- the first being Sid’s bold and brave move to sacrifice himself in front of a car, for a last minute attempt to keep him & Alex from moving to Croatia. He must have known his destiny to become Austin’s Dog Mayor a few years later, and our destiny to become family❤️

The second reason being I had two criteria for searching for a roommate on craigslist - that we had a similar housing budget, and that they had a dog (a roommate for Zeva). Alex sent me Sid’s instagram to legitimize himself as a real person on Craigslist. It worked, and we lived together ever since.

Sid is the reason Alex started taking pictures of dogs. The reason for his entire career. If Sid hadn’t been such an expert, natural poser, I doubt Alex would have become so into photography. Sid is the reason many many guests have stayed at @casa.chicoma with us - just to meet The Regal Beagle. Sid’s impact has reached so many people around the world, it’s honestly baffling. Five people have tattoos of him, and every time Alex shared a photo of him I could not believe how many people said they have followed his journey from even before his car accident, and how much happiness seeing his face has brought to their lives.

But all of this aside, to me Sid was just a cute, small dog with patty paws and the softest ears, who would poop on command and sing “I love you” in howls. He would do anything for his racquetball, use his ears as little flotation devices as he swam, and spend all day hanging out in a sunbeam, waiting for the next meal time to come around.

I used to call him Little Sid, because he was the smallest dog I’d ever had. Alex would argue that he’s “medium sized”.☺️ But eventually the ‘little’ stuck, and he became Little Sid Dog / LSD, which Alex would use to throw me off many times by saying “I’m taking LSD..”

I can’t believe his time has ended.. it seemed like this day would never be possible..

🌻always updating, upgrading, moving forward and stepping backwards. new experiences, constant challenges, adding on and taking away, always evolving and adapting. such is this life in a 43-year old handmade house on a slice of fertile high desert land, that we share with new faces every day.

Happy one year anniversary, @alexhopes my love💕 Reliving this magical, perfect day(/weekend/week) when we were surrounded by such infinite love!

It feels like yesterday but at the same time so much has happened in a year, and we never stop moving forward towards our goals (and dreaming up new ones all the time ;) So excited to see where this next year takes us, I think it will be our best one yet✨ by @m.cheka

The whimsical garden fiesta wedding of my dreams 🙌🏼

I’m not one to enjoy being the center of attention but man it felt incredible to be surrounded by such overflowing love and support from our favorite people. Thank you to everyone for traveling to us and hanging out all weekend, for helping out, sending love from afar, and being part of our lives! Love you all right back💕🌸🙏🏼

‘Expectations reduce joy’ is a saying I tend to live life by, so it’s safe to say the weekend was a million times beyond my expectations…. The only thing I wish was different was that it lasted longer!
