DID THAT 🎨 Here is my most recent mural for PS 270, an elementary school in Clinton Hill. After teaching an 8 week @gswellmural community mural class to the sweetest group of 5th graders, my students and I worked together to come up with this mural for their school. Through many interactive lessons about public art and its impact, my students wanted our mural to focus on joy, curiosity, advocacy, community, and creativity. I designed this mural based on the perspectives and conversations I had with my students. THEY devouredddddd. The mural is titled “We’re the Change.” And they rlly are. Kids are the best😤
THANK YOU TO ALL MY LOVED ONES WHO HELPED ME PAINT 🥹 love u guys. Yay by @m0mi_art

Aaah! Designed this Mural for @jeremiah_brooklyn, and painted it with an incredible group of 15 talented youth, aged 14-21. The Jeremiah Program is a non-profit whose mission is to end cycles of poverty for single mothers, two generations at a time. This summer @wopiana and I taught a 6 week Summer Leadership Institute (SLI) program for @gswellmural where we led youth in developing a social justice mural that embodies the mission, goals, and values of the Jeremiah Program. Through 6 weeks of brainstorming, community conversations, art-making, and planning, our youth dedicated their summer to art activism and community empowerment. 🤯🤩😌

This mural is a celebration of the resilience of single motherhood and the power of community as an interconnected fabric of love.

World Cup mural done ⚽️ Thank you to Groundswell Community Mural Project, the Office of the Mayor, NYC Parks Department, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, and the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development for trusting me with this project to celebrate the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
@gswellmural @nycmayor @nycparks @nyculture @nycyouth

Fabrication Assistants: @wopiana @terrell.villiers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love y'all🫂

The title of this mural is "The Language of Play," and is about play as a universal language.

Located at Prall Playground in West Brighton, Staten Island.

This is a community mural, informed by community input and brought to life through community support. I had so much support from community for this project. Thank you to everyone who came to help me during this insane summer of painting. Over 100 kids and people of all ages came to our community paint day on July 18th to come help paint the background of the mural (see last slide for some of the cuties) Beyond that, I am eternally grateful for all the additional love n support from talented angels: @jasminegiwah @bymumby @emperatritzz @gabriellefaitharriaga @milomilaonline @stufffrommybrainn @wopiana @terrell.villiers

“These murals will belong to the neighborhoods that brought them to life—from Fordham Heights to Ocean Hill to Laurelton and communities across our city,” Mamdani said in a statement. “Long after the final whistle of the World Cup, kids will walk past these walls and see something their families helped create. That’s how public art strengthens our sense of belonging and reflects the people who call their neighborhoods home. I’m grateful for this partnership and for the chance to leave something behind that will outlast the tournament itself.” @nycmayor

Mimi Ditkoff, one of the 12 Groundswell Teaching Artists working with us this summer to create murals as a part of the NYC World Cup Activations, talked to us about her mural design and how the elements represent NYC, Staten Island and the importance of having spaces for people of all ages to play!

She also has had a little member of the community wanting to come and help her paint every day, shoutout Montel!

We had an amazing turnout at our twelfth and final paint day as a part of our 12 community-driven murals across all five Boroughs to celebrate the 2026 World Cup in New York City with The Office of the Mayor, the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development!

This final mural will be located at Prall Playground, where the paint day took place, and is designed by Groundswell teaching artist, Mimi Ditkoff, who had kids and adults of all ages getting their hands full of paint and painting all over the mural. Special thank you to the United Activities Unlimited West Brighton Cornerstone (@westbrightoncornerstone ) group and members from On Your Mark (@onyourmarksi ) for painting with us!

ATTN:‼️⚽️ hiii! I need your help! As many of you know, I am painting a mural for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. And I need volunteers!!! I have two amazing mural assistants already (@terrell.villiers & @wopiana ), but we're gonna need all the help we can get. The tragedy of this story, is that my start date was delayed by two weeks, yet my deadline cannot change. Heh..heh... I need to finish this mural by August 31st, and it happens to be 1,200 square feet 😮‍💨. Starting today, I will be on site every day from 9am to 6pm, painting! This is a community mural, informed by community input and the experiences of locals. Now I'm calling on community again, to come be part of something huge.
⭐️If you love to paint, have experience with murals, or just want to help, HMU! ⭐️
.
This mural is part of the Office of the Mayor's 2026 World Cup activation in NYC.
.
My mural is located in Staten Island, so it's definitely a commute! But come :)
.
WAYS TO HELP:
⭐️Can you paint? hmu to come paint on any day between August 4th and August 31st. Would be awesome if you're a painter or have experience with murals, but still ok if not! Most days I'll have one or two of my assistants with me, but some days I'll have to be alone! So u could change that ;)
⭐️We are hosting a community paint party on August 18th from 12:45 to 2:45. This will be a multigenerational event, where everyone is welcome! You don't have to be an artist to participate :) I'm going to be outlining the mural as a giant paint by numbers, so it will be easy and fun. We'll have snacks and music and the best vibes. Bring your friends, your grandma, your baby, anyone! Have students or a youth group you work with? Invite them to our community paint day. Engage in public art and see its impact.
⭐️Pls share this with your friends or anyone you know that would be interested in helping paint a mural for the World Cup !

"The World Cup activation murals in NYC are a public art initiative creating 12 community-designed murals across all five boroughs. Led by the Groundswell Community Mural Project and city agencies, local youth and artists partner to celebrate the 2026 FIFA World Cup." ⚽️

Panel 1 of 6 of my second mural for PS 270 is done 😮‍💨 I have one more week to finish painting this, and then I start painting a mural for the World Cup 🤯🤯🤯 I am shoooooook and nervous and honored to be selected for this project. My World Cup mural will be painted in Staten Island as part of the NYC World Cup activation sponsored by the Mayors Office. 🫪 #mamdani #ily #worldcup #muralist

For reference...this mural above is going to be 200 square feet, but the World Cup mural will be 1,200 square feet. 😳 If you live in Staten Island (or if u don't but u love me) and you want to help paint, I'll be painting from July 13th to August 31st.

Thank you @wopiana for assisting me on this one above <3 taken in Brooklyn, New York by @m0mi_art
