M16 Artspace is pleased to announce the opening of three new exhibitions opening next Thursday, 22nd October, from 6-8pm.

⭐ Gallery 1 | Bespoke Utopia

Curated by M16 Artspace

Gavin Bradstreet | Wilay Designs | Matthew Freeman | Michele Grimstom | Shaun Hayes | Matilda Hillam | Evan Humphreys | Karen Lee | Sandy Ma | Paul Mclnnes | Melissa Nickols | Jessica Spencer | Lisa Stevenson | Grace Walters

Bespoke Utopia presents Canberra artists whose practices embrace the principles of slow design, grounded in care, material knowledge and long-term thinking. Linking global conversations around sustainable design with Canberra's rich craft history, the exhibition invites audiences to consider how design shapes everyday life and how thoughtful creative practices can challenge fast, disposable production models.

This exhibition is proudly supported by ACT Government City of Design funding and is part of the 2026 Craft and Design Festival.

⭐ Gallery 2 | Future Feature

Teen artists from studioMAP

Future Feature presents the signficiant work of teenagers in the midst of their young emergence, offering a glimpse into their diverse and hopeful perspectives and proud steps on their own art journeys towards confidence and future artistic maturity.

⭐ Gallery 3 | Idols

Hands on Studio

Hands On Studio's latest exhibition explores the many faces of admiration through intimate sculptural portraits of celebrities and everyday heroes. From Katy Perry and Sir David Attenborough to mothers, carers, and support workers, the exhibition celebrates the people whose inspiration, kindness, and resilience shape our lives.

🍷 As always, a big thank you to our sponsor, Quarry Hill Wines quarryhillwines for keeping our glasses full!

M16 Artspace is pleased to announce the opening of three new exhibitions opening next Thursday, 24th September, from 6-8pm.

⭐ Gallery 1 | See What I See!

NatureArt Lab

See What I See! brings together artists from the NatureArt Lab community in a celebration of biodiversity, observation and connection. Through drawing, painting, photography and mixed media, the exhibition explores the richness of plants, animals, fungi and ecosystems, inviting audiences to look closely, reflect deeply, and engage with the natural world.

⭐ Gallery 2 | Imagining here from elsewhere

Olivia Gates

Olivia Gates used her residency at M16 to create glass tools that could be brought out into the landscape to be painted and printed in place. First sculpting glass roller forms from wax, Gates casts recycled CRT Television screens to create a surface and weight appropriate for watercolour monotype printing.

⭐ Gallery 3 | Beyond the Palette

Wilay Designs

Beyond the Palette is a journey that moves beyond the visual, inviting all peoples to connect, celebrate and learn. It’s not just colour- it’s emotion, storytelling and a powerful way of sharing culture through art. Our artworks are rooted in our connection to Country, self, family and community. Each symbol, each animal and each mark honours our family, our ancestors and voices that were not always fully heard.
