Woven Together

A collaboration between us at Wilay Designs, our Mum, Dee, and our youngest brother, Larryn.

This artwork represents the sharing of culture, knowledge, connection and stories within our family, passed down through generations.

The weaving honours our two aunties, Aunty Phyllis and the late Aunty Eileen, who generously taught us how to weave, and our late Great Nan, who shared lots of culture and knowledge with us.

Each woven piece is unique, representing our individual journeys and the connections, knowledge and stories that bring us together and continue to be carried forward. 🖤

You can view and purchase this artwork at @m16artspace Griffith ACT, as part of Beyond the Palette, on until the 18th of October 2026.

We’d love for you to see it in person! 🎨

Animals On Country 🎨

I’m excited to share my new collection, Animals On Country- a series of high-quality A4 archival prints, professionally framed locally by @hugframing.

Each piece celebrates the animals we share Country with, drawing inspiration from the wildlife and landscapes of Ngunawal Country. 🍃

The collection is currently available to purchase individually at @m16artspace as part of our exhibition: Beyond The Palette.

It’s been deadly bringing this collection together, and I’d love to see these pieces find their way into people’s homes, workplaces or even become a meaningful gift for someone special. 🖤

DID YOU KNOW?

Richmond Birdwing Butterfly is the largest sub tropical butterfly in Australia. Its wingspan is 16cm for females and 13cm for males. It’s habitat is rainforest of SE Queensland and Northern NSW. It’s survival relies on the native birdwind butterfly vine. The caterpillars only feed on these vines. There habitat range was once from Maryboroug to Grafton. Due to Habitat loss, the only recent sightings have been from the Sunshine and Gold Coast Hinterlands and Wardell, just south of Ballina. Other threats include, the toxic non native Dutchmans Pipe, inbreeding, isolated groups and clilmate change. The Richmond Birdwing Butterfly is now classsed as vulnerable and threatened species.

My artwork is still on display in See What I See Exhibition, at M16 Artspace till 18 October.

DID YOU KNOW-
The Swift Parrot is one of three migratory parrots globally. Each year they migrate from Tasmania to mainland Australia. They can be found in dry forests and woodlands. Breeding occurs in Tasmania before they migrate between September to January. They spend the cooler momths on the mainland Australia and return back to Tasmania from August. The loss of their habitat through logging and land clearing has played a major part in the bird declining and becoming critically endangered. Also climate change and the introduced Sugar glider preys heavily on the eggs and chicks. The Swift Parrot is estimated to only have fewer than 1000 birds in the wild.
My Swift Parrot is on display in Canberra till the 18 October, at M16 Artspace. See What I See Art Exhibition by NatureArt Lab

Opening Night 🥂🎨

We’re incredibly humbled by the beautiful Welcome to Country by our Cuz, Aunty Caroline Hughes. Thank you so much for your wholesome words- we will hold them dear to us! 🖤

We were selected for the M16 First Nations Artist Residency, made possible through the generous donation of Thomas Boulton and Jo Wood, in partnership with Megalo Print Studio.

This project was also made possible by the Government of South Australia through Country Arts SA’s Artist Professional Development Grants program.

It has been a very busy year for us creating and spending time in both the M16 and Megalo studio spaces.

To our Mob and friends who came from near and far to view our exhibition- thank you! It truly means the world to us 🥹

The response and yarns shared on opening night was overwhelmingly positive and we’re so grateful to everyone who played a part in bringing this exhibition to life 🤎

Through this exhibition, we acknowledge and honour our old people- the cultural giants who walked before us, carrying knowledge, strength and truth through generations.

DID YOU KNOW…….The Gang Gang Cockatoo habitat is Southern Eastern Australia. In the summer the Gang Gang Cockatoos can be found in forest and woodlands with dense understoreys. Where as in winter, they call the lower altitudes their home, where its more drier. Due to habitat loss and climate change, these exquisite birds are now classed as endangered. They rely on tree hollows to raise their young.

My Gang Gang piece can still be viewed at M16 Artspace in Canberra till the 18 October.

A huge thank you to NatureArt Lab and M16 Gallery for exhibiting my artwork. Also, thank you to all the people I meet last night, much appreciated to hear their feedback of my work. I’m back to the studio this weekend, to continue capturing the souls of Australian birds in pastels.
