Volatility is a continuation of Madison Rojas’ choreographic work, Hubris. Taking inspiration from the triple mask in Mexican mythology, representing the cycle of life and death, the dance explores the physical and emotional transformation of loss. When two forces are incapable of balance, it causes an inner battle, and an endless cycle of hope and ruin.

Perceptions features original choreography by Brian Urena, Ezekiel Edwards, Jaelle Campbell, Jaida Perez, Madison Rojas, Nehir Tan, and Valentina Olaya-Florez. The Showcase is an opportunity for Queens College student choreographers, dancers, costume and lighting designers to collaborate on creating and performing original works, that reflect a variety of dance styles and dive into the joy, turmoil, and beauty of life.

Madison Rojas (Choreographer) was born and raised in Astoria, Queens, NY. Her love for dance began when she was four years old after watching the movie, Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses. She began her formal dance training at Dance Astoria Fine Arts, and then at Dance Matters NYC, where she was introduced to Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop! She enjoys participating in open-level classes at Brickhouse NYC, Ripley-Grier Studios, and Modega. Madison is a Dance Major at Queens College where she is also the Vice-President of Dance Union; a student-run club that strives to broaden the understanding of dance as a serious art form. Madison has performed with Karla Flórez School of Dance; and at Queens College she has performed in A Dream of Xōchipilli by Steven Jeltsch, Unstoppable by Josue Morillo, WASTELANDIA by Edisa Weeks, Thank you, Quincy Jones by Marshall Davis Jr., and in unsettled silence by Guanglei Hui. In 2025 Madison choreographed her first original piece, Hubris and is excited to be choreographing the next section of the dance. After graduation she plans to become a professional dancer and choreographer. She dreams of owning her own dance studio which also serves as a community center with a coffee shop.
