I turned 53 on the 14th.

Which feels kind of weird because 53 years is a long time. I have a goal of 106, so if I achieve that goal, it means I’m at the halfway point.

#angelslanding #zionnationalpark #zion #birthday

The first 53 years has been full of ups and downs and plot twists. There have been some really rough moments. Like, holy shit, really rough moments.

Many of which feel like they’ve been piled on in the last seven years.

Maybe that’s a part of growing older. Maybe as you accumulate experiences and people (friends, family, co-workers, clients) it just becomes a numbers game and you have to assume that it’s not all going to be rainbows and sunshine. And maybe if it were all rainbows and sunshine it would be boring.

Maybe the ebbs and flows teach us to be grateful for what we have. And they remind of our strengths. They give us the opportunity to show how great we can really be.

I’m so grateful for what I have. Im also proud of what I’ve built and how many times I’ve gotten up after being knocked down.

Sometimes I get tired. Sometimes I get angry. Sometimes I get sad.

But most of the time, when I think about where I’ve been and where I’m heading, I feel a joy in my heart, a fullness.

I actively seek out the simple beauty in life because we are not promised tomorrow and I want to enjoy my life fully.

Angel’s Landing is one place that that simple beauty smacks you in the face.

To be honest, Mark could have talked me out of it. I was feeling rundown from working so hard and all the demands on my time. I was (am) stressed out.

But I’m so happy we did it. Being out there, focusing on each step, pushing through to get to the view…it really puts things into perspective.

I love that I live 20 minutes away from my favorite hike.

I’m a lucky girl, but make. I mistake, I’ve been making my own luck for a long time.

Happy Birthday to me! And with little luck…..here’s to the halfway point! 😉 taken in Angels Landing Zion National Park by @m_sosh

Heading back to Wisco next week. This little visit to the swimming hole was the best way to end the weekend with @markrowave and ensure I take a piece of my heaven back with me.

This post is slightly overdue….my mom came to visit back in November.

We spent a lot of time hiking and just being together—just the two of us.

We don’t always see eye to eye politically.

And honestly, I think we both arrived a little guarded. Not because we don’t love each other, but because it’s easy to assume the hard conversations will be harder than they actually are.

Somewhere along the way, we’ve been taught to believe that our differences define us more than our shared humanity.

But out on the trails, walking side by side, that story didn’t hold up. We talked, we listened, we laughed. The distance we thought was there quietly dissolved.

What mattered more was the time.

As someone with two adult children of my own, I’m now living on both sides of that relationship—being an adult child and parenting adults.

And it’s complicated.

We’re all carrying our own experiences, our own wounds, our own growth. Different perspectives don’t mean someone failed or fell short. They just mean we’ve lived different lives.

I’ve also come to value that as my parents age, they continue to have experiences we haven’t yet. And we have some they haven’t lived either.

There’s wisdom in both directions, if we’re willing to stay curious instead of defensive.

I try to remember this often: this is her first time being 77, and my first time being 52.

We hold our parents to such high standards—thinking they should know better, or have all the answers - but the truth is, none of us have done this before. We’re all learning in real time.

I’m deeply grateful my mom was brave enough to come out, to trust me, and to share her time and energy with me.

Time is never promised. And moments like these—quiet, imperfect, real—are everything.

Spend time with the people you love. There’s so much more there than the differences.

None of us are promised tomorrow, so spend the time, send the text, share your love. by @m_sosh

Three heart surgeries in one year, ending with a pacemaker.

Countless challenges were overcome.

So many emotions; fear, sadness, relief….followed by tears to accompany those emotions.

The 2025 NYC Marathon also brought tears of joy….and so much pride.

@sophiadattilio I love you more than you know.

I’m so proud of you.

This playground is just a short drive from our house and I think every time we go will be a new adventure.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to get away from your screens and out into nature.

26 years ago today I started @getsosh - it’s been a crazy, wild, amazing ride.

The word that comes to mind the most is gratitude.
