Every Trace Was Once a Gesture
205 × 292 mm, 134 pages – Bachelor’s Thesis

Every Trace Was Once a Gesture is a visual exploration of how time leaves quiet marks on the world around us; in surfaces, in structures, in places we often overlook. The book is made up of photographs, scans, and layered compositions collected.

Some of the chapters are quiet, made up of raw photographs: untouched textures, still surfaces, moments captured exactly as they were. Moments that might only exist once, never to return in the same form again. A shift of light. Sand blown by the wind. Others are broken apart, reassembled, stretched, rearranged. Cracks deepen, edges soften, colors shift, yet the original trace always stays there. A mark from one surface would recall the curve of another, aligning by chance. I set things in motion, stepped back, then adjusted, returning again, until each page began to carry a rhythm of its own.

At the top of each page runs a line, uniquely made for that specific image. It mirrors the rhythm or tension of that moment, like a timestamp. At the end of the book, an index page reveals the original images each piece is built from, the starting traces. For every image, it includes the location name, coordinates, season, and year the photo was taken. A record of time and place, layered behind everything.

For me, this work is not only about places, it’s about the way I learn to see: slowly, attentively, without rushing toward clarity. The smallest shifts are enough. The quietest marks begin to speak. I follow what fades, what shifts, and what quietly stays. Because I find something lasting in the act of staying. And each time I look, I find another trace ◌

Third year exhibition, where the group displayed fragments from their upcoming thesis projects.

Created in the early stages of my final project — something tactile, intuitive, and fun. It brought together fragments from my archive at the time: phone photos, scanned textures, early material tests &so

carried by wind, bound by nothing.

The wind moves through me, whispering through stone and shadow. It dances, unseen, through jagged cliffs and shadowed plains, a phantom of endless motion. It shapes the earth, touches the soul, and carries everything. Leaving only whispers. Endless, indifferent, infinite.
