🌍 WORLD INTER CLUB CHAMPS 2026 TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT 🏆

It is with immense pride that the Clifton and Macassar selection committee announce our amazing Youth and Open teams heading up to Gqeberha to take on the rest of the World in December.

72 proud lifeguard athletes will represent our united team.

For many this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete on home soil at a World Champs and they will create incredible memories.

We head to World Champs this year after a fine showing in Australia 2 years ago, and we can’t wait to improve on that in all aspects of what it means to represent our two proud clubs.

Thanks you to the selection committee for countless hours of voluntary work done in putting this all together and to the senior leadership of both clubs for being involved and signing off on these teams.

Some partnerships change clubs.

Others change people.

Separated by 51.2 kilometres, Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club and Macassar Surf Lifesaving Club call two very different coastlines home. Yet over the past three years, they’ve built something far bigger than a partnership.

Together, they’ve developed new lifeguards, qualified instructors, created opportunities for athletes, shared coaching knowledge, strengthened committee leadership and built lifelong friendships.

This carousel captures just a few moments from that journey.

Because the future of lifesaving isn’t built by one club alone.

It’s built by communities choosing to grow together. 💛🖤

Macassar Magic 🍿✨ at its best!!!

What an incredible week of hard working sessions and huge fitness gains in the water💦 and on the Magic Dunes⛰️ for our Lifegaurds 🛟

Liefling were put to the test once more during the week for some hill repeats🔁 and a visiting friend of ours joining the session was former SA flags champ @jaysamuelsrsa

From making the legs and lungs strong to testing out in the swimming pool where the weekend were made for some back to back swimming sessions 🏊🏊

While all the commotion was happening flags specialist coach @adnaanbenjamin were putting newly selected President team lifesaver one of the Beresford twins through her paces💪💥⚡ taken in Macassar, Western Cape, South Africa by @mac.surflc

The love of Lifesaving and competing just can't be ignored anymore,evens if you were away from it for such a long time which was the case with Robin Kuys nowadays a powerful drager in the Tube Rescue event, not as quick and fast as he used to be back than but he found a way to make a meaningful impact and contribute to the team

From not competing in such a long time as a u17 junior way back in 2009 to making a comeback last year in the Open category and earning a bronze medal🥉 in the Tube Rescue & SERC events in his respective teams and this year following it up with a other bronze medal in the Tube Rescue 🛟

There surely is a place for everyone at any given time in the Lifesaving Community evens if you're not the fastest in and out of the water don't be discouraged because there will be an event or two if not more that you surely would do well in

6 days left until the @lifesavingsouthafrica Championships 🇿🇦

Which means taper & recovery week, all the work have been put in over the last weeks and months leading up to this major event:

We gonna focus on Active Recovery activities
Big focus on Stretching and Mobility work🤸
Foam rolling + Massage
Yoga+Meditation+Deep breathing activities 🧘

By effectively taper and recover well before the big meet methods like these will help performance + reduce injury risk and get rid of those small niggles that's been bothering you.

The last 2 weeks before the DHL LSA NATIONALS CHAMPS

A perfect time to go into event specific specialised sessions whether it'd be Surf or Pool Rescue training , a great time to reflect on the season and that this is the last last one for the season...

A very good time to gradually decrease your workload volume , work your Intensity maintenance to include short high intensity sessions to keep those muscles primed , while most importantly pay close attention to your nutrition and staying well hydrated...always prioritize sleep/relaxation/visualization which would mean more rest/off days leading up to the competition

Some tips to improve both speed,endurance & sharpening your flags technique in conjunction with our Athletes/Lifeguards prepping up for National Champs in PE...

Interval Session✨
10x400m @5k race pace (2mins rest)

Cross Training✖️
Swimming & Cycling or any low impact activity will do the trick

Hill repeats🤗
This is where Liefling comes in with its 60m/100m/150m distances of some very steep hills⛰️

Sprint session
We love our 30-60-90 ratio🙃

Flags technique
