(Long post ahead) This post doesn’t come easy but I’m ready to share our story. As a parent you always know, but doesn’t mean the road to get there doesn’t have doubts. Today is the last day of Autism of Awareness month and I get to say proudly that I am a spectrum mom. This post isn’t for sympathy or pity, but to spread awareness and let others know you are not alone! Major was Diagnosed Autistic and nonverbal July of 2025. But different, DOESN’T MEAN LESS. We are semi new to the world (as I’ve always been involved with special education) but it’s different when it’s your child. This is a journey we are still learning, adapting, and growing in but I wouldn’t want It any other way. Love truly doesn’t need words as my Major boy has taught me what It means to love and be loved.
Major is MORE than Autism, He is brave! He is Smart! He is loving! He is strong! He is joyful! He is wonderfully made and so much more!
God knew what he was doing when he gave me my son and he wouldn’t put a Goliath in front of you if you didn’t have It in you to face It. As for me, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been!

If you are a parent and have any speculation or concerns about your child, GET YOUR CHILD TESTED. It’s ok to have a hard time with It, it’s ok to grieve the life you imagined for your child, it’s ok to be scared, but EMBRACE the wonderful life God has blessed for you ahead and lean on HIM! His diagnosis doesn’t define him! It is simply only part of his beautiful testimony.
This is our story, and I’m beyond proud of It! 🧩♥️

I can’t even begin to comprehend me making this post. Last night Heaven gained the most beautiful angel. She was always there for us. It never mattered what It was. Between birthdays parties, awards, prom pictures, football games, when I need to talk, Graduation, or even just sitting in the parking lot when I tried out for UH cheer. SHE WAS ALWAYS THERE! And I’d like to believe she still will be♥️ Thank you for always making us laugh, For being the best mawmaw (she really was mawmaw to everyone), and most of all thank you for loving my boy and teaching him what skittles are😅. We love you so much. I’ll always be your Noonie and you’ll always be my mawmaw. Rest in absolute peace! I’ll be waiting until we see you again. by @macicauley_
