As a Tresor resident since 2018, Madalba known for her strictly-vinyl approach to DJing with unique selections and an exceptional mixing style. My set for @bccoberlin CSD X Seefood (China) is out and available on SC (link in BIO). I have the honor to contribute together with Hao, Cora, djbb, Sanyo and YKK. @willjooe @brycez @yyyenkkk @3niuer @corakoala 🇨🇳⚡️🤘❤️

I met Hao, the mind and soul behind @seafood.seafood , during the Taiwan Pride ‘24 celebrations, and since then it’s been a growing exchange of artistic mutualism, respect and genuine friendship, as well as the beginning of a wonderful journey discovering China, culminating in my visit to Shanghai, the first stop of my Asia Tour 2025.

Getting the chance to play at @heimshanghai and meet Agu, HeShang and Faye let me connect with a scene that was completely new to me, but above all, it laid the foundation for a valuable new connection in terms of human/artistic exchange. @kekexiili @superchaossssss @fayeplustwo. 🙏🫶🏾⚡️🫂

This is what this time of year means to me: let’s look around, stay awake, dialogue, exchange ideas/music/doubts/points of view, and SPEAK OUT when the very foundations of our communities are put at risk by the establishment of toxic dynamics and their tools such as power/washing/canceling/censorship/ghosting, which all too often creep into circuits that should remain free, socially and humanly sustainable, only to end up normalized, absorbed, and finally sadly accepted as an inevitable consequence of a system that no one actually likes and that must be fought at its roots! ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿⚡️

Let’s reflect carefully about what it means today to fight for collective freedom, even before our own, as those who already fought for us have taught us.

Thank you to Hao and the Seefood crew for the continuous support, and to BCCO for making the series possible.

See you tonight/tomorrow at @tresorberlin/OHM for Same Bitches special CSD edition.

With love and gratitude

MadAlba

Driven by a careful appreciation of the historic lineages of techno, Madalba (@madalba____ ) has earned her reputation as one of Berlin’s foremost underground techno DJs since moving here in 2011. After spending time in Detroit collaborating with DJ Seoul, Tom and Angie Linder of Detroit Techno Militia, Madalba radically changed her approach to the techno concept, which she considers more of a social, political, and aesthetic phenomenon than just a musical genre. After residencies at Buttons, and its precursor Homopatik, as well as regular appearances at RSO, SchwuZ, SO36 and Berghain, she holds a coveted residency at Tresor since 2018.

Known for her propulsive and percussive sound and almost trance-inducing mixing style that charts a seamless arc between the primordial and the futuristic qualities of techno, and beloved for her long sets stretching the perception of time and limits of sensation, Madalba stands out as a no-frills queen of the underground who can deliver a techno experience of timeless quality.

We’re beyond excited to welcome this Berlin legend into the SOUP bowl 🔥

Is Pride Week in Berlin, and like every year, it’s a moment for me to reflect on who I am, as a woman, a queer person, a doctor, a DJ, a student, and an antispeciesist activist.

The police illegal killing of Abderrahim Fakir in Bologna last Saturday landed right alongside the 25th anniversary of the Genoa G8 - Carlo Giuliani’s death, the raid on the Diaz school, the torture at Bolzaneto barracks, which Amnesty International has called the worst suppression of fundamental rights in the West since WWII.
It’s left me angry, frustrated, and honestly feeling pretty powerless.

It all connects to the rest: to the wave of media cruelty and public backlash I found myself caught in this past winter, but also to the activism and resistance I’ve been enforcing through it and to a new kind of artistic expression I’m discovering along the way.

Music, and the act of DJing itself, keep proving to be real tools of resistance for me. Combined with studying and real conversations with people, they’re what keep me standing, what stop me from folding under the pressure of a society that’s, frankly, sick. The same tools that once helped pull me through cancer!

Catch me

📍 Thursday, July 23 — afternoon into evening @pleasure.patterns.berlin, digging and spinning records with @slime_berlin residents/supporters @chrispy.dj, @zikade.dj, @immyfromlove, @dj_boney_s

📍 Thursday, July 23 — evening into night @arkaodaberlin for @queer_vinyl_night B2B with my partner in crime @amperia__ , alongside @marienalarie, @barmus__ and @viki.v1k1

📍 Sunday morning, closing Tresor for Same Bitches CSD Special (I’ll close Tresor and @manuelamayoral_ will open duties @ohmberlin )

With infinite respect and gratitude,

MadAlba

It took me a while to find the courage to step back into the social media spotlight and not because of the defamation published about me, nor the many shoulders I watched turn away, but because the wave of cruelty and violence I witnessed, left me disheartened and disillusioned with a “community” I had invested everything in, and which had always given me so much.

Time has helped me realign my priorities, choose the battles I want to fight, and above all, it made me even more MAD ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ than before 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Now I have to rebuild precious memories made of connections, moments, and emotions that were brutally stripped away from me and will never be fully recovered. The only thing I can do is try to give them a new light, and so be it: my set from @organik_festival 2024 is now online (more details in the SC description // Link in Bio).

And this Saturday, I’ll finally return home in style, with my B-Day celebration 🎉 What greater gift could I receive from the @tresorberlin fam than the honor of playing right after the master Regis 🖤!

Arrive early, stay late—the rest of the lineup is the rest of the present for your unbirthday!! 🎩🐇⏰

Peace and techno ✌️👽

PS Please share this post and spread the word! I need to reconnect with as many of you as possible, and since I can’t remember every single name, I need your help to find each other again!
