i really like hand lettering because i like my comic pages to be finished, readable pieces. but it’s not always easy (or clean).

what if there was a magical place you could go to play the game you love…even when your physical body can’t? and what if when you were there you met a girl you’d been dreaming of for months…

tracing paper and the light box are two tools that totally revolutionized my comics system. like the manual equivalent of a new layer, a piece of tracing paper is where i can re-tool drawings without committing outright. i even use it while inking to make sure a lighting trick is gonna make sense, which has been huge for me while inking this last batch of pages.

austra is moody and driven, ryen is confident and rebellious — and neither want to be anything but the best. more on their character dynamic coming soon.

officially back in school two weeks and totally hit the ground running. trying to figure out how to do all of this sustainably but i’m really excited to finally be at a point with this comic where i get to share the most exciting parts of the story :) lmk if u know none of the women painted above are caitlin clark because this seems to be a major point of confusion with people in my painting class lol.
