YOU DO NOT EXIST at Fugitive Planning: 2026 New Wight Biennial / @ucla_art.

an international exhibition which includes sculpture, video, painting, and performance.

from the curators: “Fugitive Planning is the process by which we study, conspire and move toward new ways of being, outside and behind the enclosure of neocolonialism and all of its violent means.” i adore this.

in the research, the exhibit has spiritual or otherwise connections to the works of Tina Campt, Fred Moten, Saidiya Hartman and many others. simply some of the greatest minds this world has ever produced.

foundational. if not only for my thoughts around fugitivity: one’s ability to live within, alongside and against institutional systems simultaneously. ideas around autonomy, escape, and… of course, very much in the theme of all of my work—imagining elsewhere. oh yes, and always always always a refusals of the archives authority.

could not think of a better context for YOU DO NOT EXIST. a film* that embodies all of this within its form. i don’t even know sometimes if it is a film. i mean sometimes, sure, in cinema. but i keep circling the feeling that elsewhere it is a sort of sculpture that has managed to slip off of its pedestal and onto a wall. talk about refusal, and opacity… more on this later.

We’re pleased to present the selected artists for our upcoming group show, Radical Tenderness, happening in Penang, Malaysia on August 13-16 at the Blank Canvas, in collaboration with the Penang Arts District. We invite everyone in the area to join our collective on our opening night on August 13 at 5PM at @blankcanvas.penang

Spanning over 8 countries, we are pleased to present artists showcasing 11 photo projects and 12 short films respectively from our open call.

Στο Διεθνές Διαγωνιστικό Τμήμα Μυθοπλασίας, παρουσιάζουμε το "You Do Not Exist" του Dwayne LeBlanc. Στην απόλυτη ηρεμία της αυλής του, ο Booker παρακολουθεί τον ουρανό να γεμίζει και να αδειάζει από περαστικά αεροπλάνα. Καθώς ο κόσμος συνεχίζει να κινείται γύρω του, εκείνος παραμένει στάσιμος, περιπλανώμενος γύρω από μια ανάμνηση που οι άκρες της ξεθωριάζουν με το πέρασμα του χρόνου.

Following his acclaimed debut "Civic" (named one of the Best Movies of 2023 by The New Yorker), Dwayne LeBlanc nears the completion of his brilliant trilogy. Selected as one of Filmmaker Magazine's '25 New Faces of Independent Film' and a MacDowell artist in residence, the Los Angeles-based, Caribbean-American director delivers a powerful, quiet reflection on migration, dual identities, and the invisible boundaries of belonging.

YOU DO NOT EXISTS plays @psfilmfest ✨✨

it’s wonderful to return to Palm Springs Shortfest with this inverted travelogue of a film. we will play as part of the Unbound Visions program on Thursday, June 25 at 6pm.

this block of films has a focus on surreal landscapes to abstract narratives and emotional excavations. looking forward to taking in the program IRL in a few weeks.

thank you to all the incredible programmers, staff and volunteers at the festival!

group show! YOU DO NOT EXIST opens at @visartscenter’s Frame & Frequency: Liquid Territories.

from May 28 to July 11 in Rockville, MD.

working across sound, video, sculpture, and installation, the exhibition explores the unstable terrains that shape contemporary life: extractive economies, mythic histories, technological power, migration, grief, and the porous boundaries between memory and imagination.

exhibit also includes works by artists Mark McLeod, Jonathan Monaghan, Felipe Castelblanco, Leigh Davis, and Kissel Hiram Bravo Hernández.

from May 15-17, the program will be held at @woodlandpattern. a space dedicated to the discovery, cultivation, and presentation of poetry and the arts.

YDNE screens with @openairmediafestival. an outdoor media arts program. a festival encouraging chance encounters with the public. ✨

a touring program: Iowa City, IA, Greenville, SC, Louisville, KY, with more dates to be announced.

it is an absolute dream to be included in these thoughtful programs that exist outside of the cinema context. i am curious how a film can operate as an object too. how a film can sometimes be less of a film and more of a thing. and then how and where and why becomes important. it begins to pull the projection from the screen and into the space. and so when it has legs, it’s on a plinth, what does it want to say?
