Thank you, @wondrashoots, for making stepping out of my comfort zone feel so effortless. The red ribbon is an ode to Ariadne's thread. This past year has been complicated, tangled, and full of unexpected detours. I kept thinking I needed to know exactly where I was going before taking the next step. Turns out, sometimes it's enough just to keep following the thread. Today I turn 35. Here's to trusting the path, even when I can't yet see where it leads. by @madematter
Too much of something is bad enough But something's coming over me to make me wonder Too much of nothing is just as tough - Spice Girls . . . Second attempt at self portraiture. Scotland has always felt strangely familiar to me. This spring, I spent a week in the Highlands at Moniack Mhor, a writers' retreat tucked between rolling hills, ancient forests, and skies that never seemed to end. I came hoping to work on my novel. I left with pages of writing, photographs, unexpected friendships, long conversations, and the feeling that I had somehow returned to a place I'd never been before. The staff welcomed us with such warmth and generosity that the retreat quickly felt like home. Between writing sessions, I wandered the hills, got lost on small roads, glens, swam in an icy cold Loch and had magical encounters with birds, cows, sheep, horses, and dogs. Most of the images I made in Scotland disappeared when I lost my SD card shortly after returning home. These are some of the few that survived. A small reminder that not everything beautiful is meant to be kept. Some things are simply meant to be lived. Thank you, Moniack Mhor, for a week I will carry with me for a very long time. I'll be back. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 . #MoniackMhor #ScottishHighlands #ScotlandPhotography #WritersRetreat #CreativeRetreat by @madematter
Scotland felt less like a place and more like a memory I'd somehow forgotten. Dores Beach, Loch Ness. PS: Back in Switzerland, just as I sat down to start editing, I discovered I'd somehow lost the SD card containing 95% of the photographs from this trip. These are some of the few that survived. by @madematter
