Inspiring Women Series — Briz

Some friendships survive because you work at them.
Ours simply refuses to loosen its grip.

Locker partners since seventh grade. Two girls who grew into very different women, on different continents, with different lives, somehow becoming closer with every passing year.

My soul has always known hers.

Briz is a beautiful contradiction: grit wrapped in kindness, an engineer's mind with an adventurer's heart, equally at home fixing irrigation systems, riding a motorcycle through Southern Oregon, or disappearing into a board game for hours. She's the funniest person I know, the person who can make me laugh until I cry, no matter how much time has passed.

She is one of the greatest inspirations in my life. She reminds me that strength doesn't have to be loud, that curiosity is a way of moving through the world, and that you can be fiercely independent without ever losing your gentleness.

Thank you for more than twenty years of friendship, for every adventure, every laugh, and for inspiring me simply by being exactly who you are.

Too much of something is bad enough
But something's coming over me to make me wonder
Too much of nothing is just as tough

Inspiring Women — Portrait Series

I started this project to challenge myself creatively and grow as a photographer in a way that feels meaningful and intentional.

The idea is simple: photograph the women who inspire me most in my life. Using light, color, symbolism, props, and setting, I try to translate how I perceive them into portraits.

These portraits feature Camille 🌿🌊✨

Camille has always reminded me of still water: calm on the surface, quietly powerful underneath.

She is thoughtful, methodical, deeply intuitive, and endlessly kind. Soft-spoken without ever lacking strength. A dancer whose grace extends far beyond movement, and the kind of person who makes those around her feel safe.

I wanted these images to feel like a conversation with the natural world: listening, observing, and moving gently through it.

Thank you, Camille, for trusting me, for sharing your magic, and for being one of the women who inspire me most.

More portraits of inspiring women coming soon.

In the coming months, I'll be opening portrait commissions for people who want meaningful, artistic portraits of themselves in a safe and creative space. Stay tuned 🌙

Scotland has always felt strangely familiar to me.

This spring, I spent a week in the Highlands at Moniack Mhor, a writers' retreat tucked between rolling hills, ancient forests, and skies that never seemed to end.

I came hoping to work on my novel. I left with pages of writing, photographs, unexpected friendships, long conversations, and the feeling that I had somehow returned to a place I'd never been before.

The staff welcomed us with such warmth and generosity that the retreat quickly felt like home. Between writing sessions, I wandered the hills, got lost on small roads, glens, swam in an icy cold Loch and had magical encounters with birds, cows, sheep, horses, and dogs.

Most of the images I made in Scotland disappeared when I lost my SD card shortly after returning home. These are some of the few that survived.
A small reminder that not everything beautiful is meant to be kept. Some things are simply meant to be lived.

Thank you, Moniack Mhor, for a week I will carry with me for a very long time. I'll be back.

Scotland felt less like a place and more like a memory I'd somehow forgotten.

Dores Beach, Loch Ness.

PS: Back in Switzerland, just as I sat down to start editing, I discovered I'd somehow lost the SD card containing 95% of the photographs from this trip. These are some of the few that survived. by @madeofmatter_art

You search through the forest and the bottomless sea
And you cry
Push the trees, push the sky, push the air aside
You look at their faces and their meaningless loss
And you cry
Who is she, who is she, who is she who is she to say goodbye?

Inspiring Women - Portrait Series

This is Katherine.
A dear friend, an ex-colleague, and a force I’ve always known not to underestimate.
She doesn’t just play games. She understands them. Breaks them. Rebuilds them.

A strategist, a storyteller, a master of systems. The kind of mind that sees patterns where others see chaos.

There is something rebellious in the way she moves through the world.
Soft, but sharp. Playful, but precise.

For this series, I wanted to place her inside her element, in her home.
On her tatami, stripped back to the essentials.

Thank you for trusting me with your image @rekkette

This series is part of an ongoing project where I photograph the women who inspire me, as a way to grow creatively and tell stories through light, color, and symbolism.

More to come.
Commissions opening later this year.
