Some friendships survive because you work at them.
Ours simply refuses to loosen its grip.

Locker partners since seventh grade. Two girls who grew into very different women, on different continents, with different lives, somehow becoming closer with every passing year.

My soul has always known hers.

Briz is a beautiful contradiction: grit wrapped in kindness, an engineer's mind with an adventurer's heart, equally at home fixing irrigation systems, riding a motorcycle through Southern Oregon, or disappearing into a board game for hours. She's the funniest person I know, the person who can make me laugh until I cry, no matter how much time has passed.

She is one of the greatest inspirations in my life. She reminds me that strength doesn't have to be loud, that curiosity is a way of moving through the world, and that you can be fiercely independent without ever losing your gentleness.

Thank you for more than twenty years of friendship, for every adventure, every laugh, and for inspiring me simply by being exactly who you are.
