What happens when two longtime footwear designers turn 3D printing into their competitive advantage?

In this episode of Made to Last, Sean O’Shea @sneaker_sean and Geoff Deas @geoffdeas take us through their careers—from New Balance, Reebok, Converse, adidas, Nike, AND1, K-Swiss, Off White and beyond—to their time building ANTA’s Southern California design operation.

Working remotely from California meant competing with teams in China who had factories and development resources right around the corner. #3Dprinting became their weapon.

It allowed them to move faster, visualize ideas, iterate and ultimately demonstrate the creative power of what they could bring to the table—including when ANTA was pursuing #KyrieIrving.

Now, Sean and Geoff are putting that experience into Odd Labs (@odd_footwear), a footwear incubation platform helping athletes and entertainers develop their own footwear ideas.

“As fast as we can draw, we can get shoes to people.”

With partnerships involving #BaronDavis and #JaylenBrown, Odd Labs is creating a new pathway for athletes to explore product before jumping straight into the world of signature footwear.

For Sean, this new chapter represents his own version of making it to the NBA—a metaphor for reaching the level of creative impact and freedom he always wanted.
