after its many months circuit around america, THE PADDOCK CLUB traveling ARC is home. 💖 thank you to every reader who participated. can’t believe this *custom cover* by @embbooks_, the tear-stained pages, your notes on Cat and Faust.

here in the dark and overcast writing cave, I’m in the middle of the obligatory ‘mid-putting together a book’ freak out for my next novel, ON GUARD — because focusing on it these past few months has me worried it’s something special and that’s SCARY. pulling off a book is scary. knowing what you want to say and saying it? has only gotten marginally easier for me. but flipping through these pages and feeling connected to all of you reminds me that at the end of the fear waits the best part: a book and its readers.

✨ and just like that ✨ the first leg of THE PADDOCK CLUB book tour is done!! and I couldn’t have asked for a better host than @wildgeesebookshop, one of my favorite bookstores in the world — alongside one of my favorite humans (and author) @michelle.c.harris 💖

and thank you to all of you for braving the heat wave in your finest Cat fashions (or chillest Faust wear ™️) this week. it’s seriously been an honor to see y’all get excited about THE PADDOCK CLUB irl. your excitement makes ME excited. I’m still so new at this author thing, and while I never had any doubt that romancelandia would be into a billionaire-duping fashion girl Robin Hood, getting to talk to y’all about high concepts and big feelings and the intersections of capitalism and k*nk and ahem lizardmen — !!! my heart is full & my inspiration battery is CHARGED. 🔋

signed copies of THE PADDOCK CLUB & SLIPSTREAM are available at @wildgeesebookshop with some special extras while supplies last!

& thank you again to the reader who gave me the bedazzled SLIPSTREAM 😭 swipe for a few more tour bts

(p.s. see y’all again NEXT WEEK for the online release party July 21 7 pm CT with @novelneighbor & @katrinazkwan! totally free, 🔗 in bìooooo) by @madgemarilwrites

guys i’ll be honest idk why ‘chic’ is trending & why y’all want cat’s chic monologue from the paddock club as a poster but!! here’s two (three?) attempts.

& thank you for resonating with cat and her big fashion thoughts. 💖 I wrote this bit in a slight existential sartorial fit one afternoon and it’s a delight to think it’s connecting.
