What I wouldn’t give for one more chance to wander around a video store to pick a VHS for a movie night!

For my third quarter favorites, I thought I’d channel the power of the employee pick’s rack at your local Blockbuster. Don’t worry, no late fees here.

🏎️ July: The Paddock Club by @madgemarilwrites
💍 August: Not That Kind of Proposal by @victorialavinewrites
❄️ September: The Twelve Days of You by @elliekwildeauthor

And stick around for the final slide to see my favorite out of Q2.

📼 Which one are you renting first?

🏷️ Romance Books • Romance Readers • Romance Recs • Contemporary Romance • Five Star Reads • Quarterly Reading Wrap Up • Sports • Enemies-to-Lovers • Holiday • Bookish Nostalgia A nostalgic video rental store-inspired graphic on a pale lavender background. A navy movie ticket with yellow lettering reads “Music & Meet Cutes,” alongside large text reading “Q3 Staff Favorites.” Three colorful VHS tapes labeled July, August, and September stand on a white shelf. Their spines feature racing flags, pink perfume bottles, and snowflakes, respectively. A large red-and-white striped bucket of popcorn sits beside the tapes.

Love a good preorder sale almost as much as I love a romance novel with emotional damage and a guaranteed HEA 💌📚

Here are some of the books sitting at the top of my preorder wishlist right now. Which one are you most excited for? 👀✨

Bonus points if you convince me to add even more books to my cart 💸🤍

A review of all the superlatives for the first half of the year and already thinking about the last half 📖

Slipstream by @madgemarilwrites is an enemies to lovers, fake dating, neurotypical female main character, arrogant curmudgeon male main character, secret plan for revenge, slow-burn Formula 1 romance. And I loved every single page.

The Paddock Club is a delightful Formula One, slow-burn, revenge-fueled romance that teaches the reader the value of trust in any relationship.

Maril succeeded at drawing me into her fictional universe, making me oblivious to my own reality as I was 100% invested in her characters’ love stories.

three tour stops down :) an absolute joy to meet readers and to hang out with my INCREDIBLE interlocutors, Julie and Madge, as well as the coolest bookstore workers in the midwest - at Serendipity in Chelsea, MI; Wild Geese in Franklin, IN; and Novel Neighbor in St. Louis!!

they should all still have signed copies if you’d like one, and they do ship:

✨WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY✨ and some of my favorite books with mental health representation. 🧠❤️

World Mental Health Day is observed every October 10th to raise awareness about mental health and encourage open, compassionate conversations. It’s a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health and that everyone deserves access to support and care.

We can (and should!) use today as an opportunity to check in with ourselves and others, challenge the stigma against mental health conversations, and remember that caring for our mental health is an ongoing process.

Talking about our mental health is how we save lives. This is incredibly important to me as someone who has struggled with mental health my entire life. I grew up in a home with an incredibly sick mother. But my sisters and I were told it was all in her head and a moral failing. So when I started showing symptoms in my late teens? I already felt like a failure.

After many, many years of diagnosis, I’m finally receiving the right treatment for me and my c-ptsd, anxiety, and adhd. For 10 years I went through life with a borderline personality disorder diagnosis, and the stigma around BPD really made it difficult for me to get the care that I needed.

Vilifying mental illness (and therefore those who suffer from it) has cost so many lives. Speak up. Check on your loved ones. And end the stigma against mental illness and mental health awareness.

Now…go check out those book recs. 👀
And have a great Saturday! ❤️
