October marks 12 years of being behind the chair for me. It’s funny to think about how I even got here. I wasn’t the little girl who always knew she wanted to be a hairdresser. At one point, I told people I wanted to be a race car driver. My driving now definitely reflects that dream. I was an introvert with bad grades and way too much energy to sit still. Don’t ever ask me to do math or read a map. I’ll cry. Somehow, my sister talked me into this profession when I was in high school. I actually had to convince my dad that if I went into this industry, it would pay my bills so he could finally stop being the one to do so. If you were here now, Dad, you’d get teary eyed and tell me I’m worth every penny and so much more. 12 years in this building. 12 years of experience, education, confidence, and most importantly, relationships. I feel incredibly lucky to still have clients who have been with me since the very beginning, back when I was apprenticing at Cha Cha’s. There’s something special about getting to grow alongside the people who have trusted me with their hair for over a decade. A wise guy said, “Remember how you got here, remember who paved the way and those that poured into you to make this possible.” Here’s to you, @jasontherooster and @charlenethechacha You didn’t just give me a career; you gave me a place to call home. I owe so much of my story to you both, and I’ll forever be grateful. And then there are my clients. The people who trusted me when I was brand new, stuck with me as I grew, sent their friends my way, and continued to sit in my chair year after year. Thank you for giving me that trust, supporting my business, and allowing me to be a small part of your lives. I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve built, and so grateful for the people who helped me get here. As I step into my 13th year, I’ll also be making a $10/hour adjustment to my pricing starting next month. It feels right for my pricing to grow alongside the career I’ve worked so hard to build. 12 years later, and I’m still reminded every day that I wouldn’t be here without you. 💋 Spoiling y’all this month.
