10/8/26: We were proud to have our ribbon cutting for our addition to the firehouse. This project was completed after many hard months of work by @mungerconstruction and by our members. This is a milestone in our department and something that was talked about for many years. We are so grateful to everyone who has been a part of it. Thank you to everyone who came to support us. #MadisonHoseCo by @madisonhoseco1

During this week’s drill night, members trained on stretching and operating various hose lines. Newer members were shown different techniques on how to pull and advance lines quickly and efficiently. Skills like these are important as they are the fundamentals of firefighting. #MadisonHoseCo by @madisonhoseco1

For this past week’s training night, members went over ladders. On our trucks we carry a number of different size portable ladders. In the event that we cannot use our ladder truck to reach a window or roof, we can use our portable ladders. Members in the first photo were setting up our 35 ft extension ladder. This is our tallest portable ladder. Members practiced different techniques on how to raise the ladders and were shown scenarios for victim rescue vs venting. It is important that we keep drilling so we are proficient in an emergency situation. #MadisonHoseCo by @madisonhoseco1

Fire Truck Friday: We have our antique apparatus also known as “The Childs” This pumper was bought by members from the Ellington CT Fire Department for $150.00. The truck served as our brush truck up until its retirement from service in 1968. The Childs is owned and maintained by members and is a crowd favorite in the Memorial Day and 4th of July parades. #MadisonHoseCo by @madisonhoseco1

Today we remember Firefighter Michael Terrio on the one year anniversary of his passing. Mike first started with Madison Hose as a junior and later became a senior member. Mike was always known for his leadership and willingness to help anyone in need. Mike always made it a point to mentor newer and younger members and the lessons he taught will never be forgotten. We send our condolences and prayers to his friends and family ❤️❤️ #MadisonHoseCo by @madisonhoseco1

For this past weeks drill night, members trained on Firefighter Safety and Survival. Members practiced how to convert an air pack in case of a downed firefighter. This helps aid in the removal of the firefighter. Members also trained on breaching through walls in case a situation becomes untenable. While these skills are not often used, it’s important to train on them as much as possible so there is no hesitation in an emergency situation. #MadisonHoseCo by @madisonhoseco1
