POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I deeply believe that lasting, systemic change happens when we tap into our bodies and the creativity that is alive and innate in each of them, allowing our inner most dreams to blossom.

Combining my love of teaching, facilitating, arts, and healing practices, I am now offering 1:1 and group sessions as an Arts Doula!

What does this mean exactly?

Well- This will depend on you and what you want to work on! Haven’t touched anything ā€œcreativeā€ in years and wanting to explore again? Brushing up against scarcity mindset and unsure how to move through it? Project specific curiosities? Curious about sustainability in your studio at a bodily and spiritual level? Wanting to explore integration of abundance into your practice? This work is vast and wide and abundant!

I am offering free 30 minute sessions with me for anyone interested in this work and what it might offer! Unsure how this work could work virtually? My entire somatic training program took place virtually and has been one of the most life-changing and formative experiences of my life to date. Unsure if payment is possible? Book a session still, and let’s see what is possible!

Any other questions? my DMs are open! I can’t wait to be in creative conversation with you. L ! N K n B1O for all the goodies. šŸ©µšŸŽ‰šŸ©µšŸŽ‰šŸ©µšŸŽ‰ by @madisonmaeparker

Madison Mae Parker is a writer, performer, ritual artist, somatic educator, and space-maker. Voted as best poet in Kansas City, Missouri in 2022 by The Pitch Magazine, she finds deep belonging in the stretching of language through poetry and questioning where a poem might long to live. Having toured and taught internationally with her poetry in Europe, Singapore, and Australia, she feels most at ease while performing and facilitating rituals and conversations around the things that make us human. In addition to holding an MFA in Performance from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, they recently received an expressive arts therapy certification through the Tamalpa Institute (2023). When they are not art-ing, you can find her watching anime and eating Hot Cheetos with her cats MeowZaki and Magic Conch Shell. by @madisonmaeparker

thinking a lot about time :::: bodily time ;; seasonal time ;; disability time ;; age ;; the calendar ;; the clock ;; the moon ;; the astrology ;; the sounds of ticking and the keeping of a metronome.

A mix of very real and very made up and very in the body/nature.

For the last 18 months, I have been actively working as an Arts Doula. One of the reoccurring echoes I encounter with clients (and myself) is an anxiety around time and their making ::: deadlines ;; I don’t have time for the studio ;; I am too old/young to return/begin ;; I must race to complete this ;; how do i make when I feel constantly exhausted // sick ;;; etc. etcetccc.

So, in my own musings and curious explorations, I am hosting a 2-part workshop for all people/creatives/artists to explore their own bodily relationship to time and making! Not because I hold any special knowledge, but a hope to explore alongside you in a guided container.

This workshop is at sliding scale offering (no one turned away for lack of funds). It will be small to allow for intimacy and conversation. It is for all artists and people and creatives and humans alike to be in space.

There will be lots of space for breaks, for movement, for conversation, for journaling, for snacks, and water, and tea, and making, and readings. I will give assignments and explorations and readings between week 1 and week 2 to support our exploration. Following the workshop, we will convene as a cohort (pending if it will be private, semi-private, or public) to simmer in how integration is happening through a Show + Tell format.
Interested but unsure if you can make it to both sessions? Let’s chat!

This workshop is to also support my thesis + practicum with the @tamalpa to become a fully registered RSME/T. I met my hours back in February, but life has lifed, and I am finally in the rounding edges of my thesis.

Will you join me for this workshop and help me finish up my thesis?

a body so full of love and loving and longing, i fall apart each time my hands reach for yours. a body so full of language, sounds disguised as words dressed up in english stretch across time, which is the kitchen table, waiting impatiently for the oven to ding. i am devoted to feeling. i am devoted to feelings. which means i’m devoted to the body. yours and mine. i do not ignore my body, which insists then, that i cannot ignore yours. your thirsty mouth. your crawling hands. your laughing bursts of rupture and rapture. oh oh o. woe to the body that breathes, but forgets it’s breath. what a grief that truly must be. (or some holy scripture i’m sure once said.) god is a holy thing dressed in drag. amen, my god is a feeling fleshy thing that oozes and bleeds.

movement philosophy returns in august- this time on Wednesdays! come for one. come for all.
then september, im teaching somatic movement again with @khecaridance, followed by a swift return of MP on mondays in november. all šŸŽŸļø live and u no where. questions about any of them- dm!

we’ll be reading texts on disability and crip time, poetry and the importance of feelings, and more for MP. i can’t wait to see you there. online MP to be announced soon, but also dm if you want deets sooner and first look at šŸŽŸļøšŸ„³šŸ¤øā€ā™€ļø.

with all devotion to this feeling body šŸ’™šŸŒ€šŸ¤øā€ā™€ļø

I’M WRITING ABOUT GRIEF AGAIN. I’M GRIEVING ABOUT WRITING AGAIN. I’M LIVING ENOUGH TO GRIEVE A LIFE. I’M GRIEVING ENOUGH TO KNOW I AM LIVING.

In 2022, I wrote a quick and dirty chapbook at my going away feature in KC before moving to Chicago titled Grief is Garden God is a Weed. I haven’t much touched that work since moving. Much better to leave my grief in the dust. Much better to turn over a new leaf. Much better to be much better. Much better to see yourself becoming full again. Much better to forget our race towards becoming is a race towards grief.

And so, here I am, finding myself in Grief’s arms, yet again. Once, Grief was a vacuumous space. Now, Grief resembles something closer to my grandmother’s reflection, despite her absence from this plane for nearly 12 years. Grief’s hands, softer. Her voice, gentler. I will be slower to rush her out of my presence this time.

A pointing toward machine listening.

By the insistence of our bodies we persist.
insistence --> persistence
The insistence of touch
The insistence on touch

I approached this shoot like I would have as an angsty teenager that just got her first camera.

And can I just say how cool it is to have friend and artistic partner like @madisonmaeparker Shoots with them are always truly collaborative, I can play, and experiment, and make mistakes with my photos and it’s all ok, because the experience is really the best part. I always leave feeling inspired and a little healed after shoots with Madi. by @madisonmaeparker

✨ Lesbians on Top – Madi✨

This photo series is dedicated to celebrating and amplifying the stories of inspiring lesbians in Chicago. Through powerful portraits and personal narratives, Lesbians on Top seeks to authentically capture the diverse, vibrant voices that make up our community.

I had the pleasure of taking some photos of Madi (she/they) @madisonmaeparker Madi is a somatic educator, ritual artist, performer, and writer who centers the body as a source of wisdom, creativity, and transformation. Their work weaves together movement, spirituality, storytelling, and fashion; approaching style as both a creative and devotional practice.

Madi creates spaces for individuals and communities to reconnect with themselves through somatic sessions, collaborative rituals, and intentional gatherings. Their practice is rooted in the belief that we are always evolving, always arriving more fully into who we are.

Coming out later in life during the 2020 quarantine, Madi’s journey has shaped a deep commitment to self-discovery and embodied truth. After a challenging period of mental and physical health in recent years, their work now reflects a celebration of resilience, adaptation, and the ongoing process of becoming.
