PAPILLON, 2024

‘Papillon is a simple construction in primarily one material; cardboard. Contemplating monumentality and fragility it stands as a temporary mark.
´Papillon´ is French for butterfly and like so it appears as a moving metaphor that represents transformation, change and hope. Like the butterfly that emerges from its chrysalis, we go through periods of deep transformation both as a society and as an individual. In the butterfly’s wings we find promise of renewal and an assurance that even in the darkest of times, the possibility to throw away the old and embrace the new exists.

Undergoing metamorphosis PAPILLON invites visitors to engage with its surfaces, offering a canvas for drawing and writing. Throughout the festival the structure evolves with these

CHART Public Winner Announcement! 🎪 After reviewing submissions from designers, architects, scenographers and artists from across the Nordics, the jury invited 3 finalist teams to present their ideas, before selecting 1 winner:

• ‘Pantomime’ by Mads Vagn Jacobsen (@mads.vagn), Frederik Lykkeberg Larsen (@frederiklykkeberg) from @antenna_works & Oliver Sundqvist (@o.sundqvist) 🏵️

Reimagining the courtyards at Charlottenborg as a total installation, the team behind Pantomime has proposed an inspiring scenography that will set the stage for CHART 2026.

Pantomime draws on a theatrical tradition rooted in gesture, exaggeration, and collective spectacle, turning Charlottenborg’s courtyards into an open, continuous stage. Like a circus arriving in the city, the installation temporarily occupies the courtyard, transforming it into a stage for collective experience.

The jury has also selected 2 teams who they would like to give honourable mentions to:

• ‘Sisters’ by Áron Koch (@kh_aron), Robert Olsson (@robbearth), Charles Palmborg (@charliepalmborg) & Maciej Rojek (@maciejrrojek)

• ‘A space of borrowed gravity’ by Victor Hauerslev Munch (@victormunch) & Jacob Billesbølle (@_blurkid_)

The design consist of a wooden structure clad with recycled perforated steel plates. We played with both light and smoke to enhance the experience 👽 👽👽
