☀️🌒 Musician spotlight on Madska!

This amazing band will be joining us at our upcoming Midsummer Pride Backyard Gallery in just a few weeks! 🌈

Madska (pronounced Mad-skuh) started as Maddy Rose Weisman’s solo venture during the crux of the pandemic, as a way to process the loss of relationships, longing for community, and the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Upon moving to Philadelphia, she collected musical conspirators including guitarist Sean Bonney-Burrill, and keyboardist Gabe Banford, who happen to be longtime childhood friends. Madska’s lyricism touches on themes such as yearning, nostalgia, and soul searching with a hopeful twist. Sitting somewhere between indie, pop, and alternative, Madska’s sound is unique in a way that feels introspective but driving, healing but fiery. The project’s name, adopted from Maddy’s childhood nickname, encapsulates everything that Madska epitomizes: rose-colored lenses for the passage of time, and a reminder of what connects us to each other.

It’s Medusa day 🩶

I feel like I’ve turned myself to stone and woken up a thousand times over the last 8 years since I wrote this. Sometimes I feel like I’ve got a million poisonous snakes coming out of my head and they protect me but really I just want someone to feed them all a little snack and say it’s ok I gotchu! This song means so much to me, and I’m so grateful to everyone that helped bring Medusa to fruition. Songs out & music videos out🐍

Thank you to:

Hey villains 🐦‍⬛

It’s such a universal experience as a femme to walk around the world both feeling hunted and invisible. This song came to me about 7 years ago after I realized my outlook was shaped by feeling like prey and that I was waiting for validation or to be assigned value from someone who couldn’t or didn’t want to see me. Being able to disentangle myself from my own complicated vision of womanhood, and writing from a demonized perspective was extremely healing. Now I feel like I can talk to a younger version of myself who was sorting through the anger and pain of being thrust into an unkind world, and reassure her that she’ll soon walk around less afraid. 🏮

This is the first song that we’re releasing that is a full collaboration between me, @mothman_withaplan & @gabeltonlive and I literally could not have imagined bringing this to fruition without them. Thanks bois luv u 🐍 by @madskamuse

We're excited to bring you a stacked three-band bill on Saturday November 7th at Evil Genius Beer Company in Fishtown! Come enjoy food and beverages and bring your dancing shoes for an unforgettable night of live music in Philadelphia. Show at 7:30, 21+, no cover charge!

Madska (Philly, PA) Sitting somewhere between indie, pop, and alternative, Madska’s sound is unique in a way that feels introspective but driving, healing but fiery. The project’s name, adopted from front woman Maddy’s childhood nickname, encapsulates everything that Madska epitomizes: rose-colored lenses for the passage of time, and a reminder of what connects us to each other.

New Planets (Ithaca, NY) makes their Philly debut! Other-Worldly, Party Music of the Past, Present and Future, New Planets is an ever evolving cast of singers and players. Blending countless sonic narratives and perspectives, the group has become known for creating dance music defying borders and genres.

Kickstand Dismount (Philly, PA) is a Philadelphia based band that started as a fledgling power trio of roommates trying to figure out new instruments in 2022, before adding synths, percussion, and extra vocals to create a nostalgic 5-piece with a wide variety of influences. Driven by the philosophy that their music is “a vibe, not a genre,” the band shifts seamlessly between high-energy dance grooves and introspective, lyric-driven tracks.

More Than Dramatic is the title track from the new EP by Madska. The record is a love letter to the growing pains that becoming puts us through. Each song cradles the listener through a tangled emotional landscape. Although touching on heavier topics, the record still pokes fun at the lighter, more awkward parts of healing. The title More Than Dramatic is a facetious play on the contrast between the internal roiling of bottled up emotions, and the relief of letting them loose into the world.

The song More Than Dramatic lyrically channels the angst of a teenage experience while giving the joyous chaotic hullabaloo of a high school pep rally. Punchy, danceable, and dynamic, the song shows their ability to capture that first taste of adolescent freedom and the unwanted responsibility and self awareness that accompanies it.

Madska will be performing at the Evil Genius 15th Anniversary Block Party in Philadelphia on October 3rd, 2026.
