April was absolute perfection! Forcing Jacob to wear a leather jacket to a spring wedding, admiring my photogenic parents, posing with my favorite wedding date (sorry Jacob), obsessed with my cutie Rams fan (love you Jacob), listening to my enneagram 3 playlist, cheering on the baby of the family who is not so baby anymore, enjoying Aunt Shari’s house, realizing Jacob and I are the favorites duhhh, night out with the Stevenson’s, first spritz of the season, matching matchas , Kim bringing the HYPE, prayers for the next generation, hanging with my foster children, loving what I’ve been thrifting lately, and one more for the wedding venue by @madssfran

This year, I was challenged to hope again. When you start the year grieving, the easiest thing to do would be to throw in the towel. Just get through the year and move on to the next. But in June, I looked at Jacob and said, “I refuse to let 2025 be a waste. Even though it’s been hard, I have to believe it will get better.”

For most of my life, I’ve been a glass half-full person. Hoping for things has never been a struggle ever, and I’m grateful for that. So the thought of giving up, trying to muster enough energy to get through the day, and barely getting by was a new thing that I had resorted to. With the help of my husband, my family, our gym, our friends, and the Lord, I began to acknowledge that I didn’t want to live life by cruising, but I wanted to dream again.

I accepted a job at a cafe. I let my coworkers love and encourage me, and I allowed the Lord to humble me as I served. I leaned on my friends and met new people. I kept going to the gym even when I didn’t feel like it. I was surprised that so many people wanted to come visit Jacob and me in Boise and bless us. I watched my favorite football team defy all the haters and win games that seemed impossible. I tried to enjoy the little wins, and the little moments of joy. I got overwhelmed (in a good way) by all the invites we received at the end of the year. Boise is becoming more and more of a home as we grow our community, and I’m excited for what 2026 holds.
