🌱✊🏽 THE FIRST OFFICIAL ENDORSEMENT IS IN!

We are proud to announce that the San Francisco Green Party has officially endorsed our campaign for San Francisco Board of Supervisors District 10! 💚

This is a major milestone for our campaign — and a powerful affirmation of our vision for environmental justice, sustainability, peace, and a healthier, more resilient District 10.

From Hunters Point to India Basin and throughout Southeast San Francisco, we believe environmental justice must go hand-in-hand with economic opportunity, public health, clean infrastructure, and community power.

🌎 Sustainability.
☮️ Peace.
✊🏽 Justice.
🏗️ Reinvestment in our communities.
🌱 A sustainable future for District 10.

And the timing couldn’t have been more special. I found out about the endorsement today while visiting Brooklyn, New York for Labor Day weekend! 🇺🇸🗽

So of course, we had to celebrate! 😂🙌🏽

Big shoutout to the NYPD Blue fellas who joined in on the celebration, and an even bigger thank-you to my campaign manager Erica Moseley for reminding me that moments like this are worth capturing, celebrating, and remembering.

One endorsement. One milestone. One step closer.

The work continues. 💚🌎✊🏽

District 10 — let’s build a sustainable, peaceful, prosperous future together.

🏘️ EMPTY LOTS. DISPLACED COMMUNITIES. WHERE’S THE PLAN?

Standing at Illinois and 23rd Street, looking at the empty terraces where Potrero Hill’s public housing community once stood, I have to ask: What happens when people lose their homes?

We’ve seen this in Double Rock, where fenced-off, empty lots remain next to Alice Griffith. Now, Sunnydale residents face displacement as redevelopment moves forward. The area is fenced off, the windows are boarded up.
Is everyone getting to keep their housing in San Francisco?

What is the city doing with these vacant lots RIGHT NOW?

I believe we should explore turnkey modular housing or, where appropriate, RV communities with supportive services.
#publicadministration
Redevelopment shouldn’t mean displacement without a plan. Empty land should be part of the solution.

What should the city do TODAY? #avotelesspeopleisahopelesspeople #communityfirst #journalism taken in Dogpatch by @mafh_security

🏘️ POTRERO POWER PLANT REDEVELOPMENT: WHO IS THIS NEIGHBORHOOD FOR? | PART 3

I walked through the new Potrero Power Plant development, saw the history displayed inside its lobby, and looked around at the neighborhood taking shape.

One thing stood out to me: I saw surprisingly few Black residents out and about in this new development.

That observation is not a demographic study, and it cannot tell us who lives here based on a single visit. But it raises a serious question for District 10:

If a development is partly framed as an opportunity to repair historic environmental harms, how do we ensure the Black community actually benefits?

🏘️ Can working-class Black families afford to live here?

💰 Are longtime District 10 residents benefiting from the economic opportunities created by redevelopment?

✊🏾 Is the Black community meaningfully involved in decisions about the neighborhood’s future?

🎭 Will Black culture, local businesses, and community institutions remain part of this waterfront’s identity?

🌱 And are environmental health and remediation concerns being addressed transparently?

District 10 deserves development that does more than transform the skyline. We deserve investment that creates real opportunity, protects public health, and preserves the cultural vibrancy of our diverse communities.

I want to see a future where Black families, working people, and longtime residents are not merely remembered in a lobby mural, but welcomed as residents, business owners, workers, and decision-makers.

The question isn’t just what we’re building. It’s who we’re building it for.

As a candidate for District 10 Supervisor, I’m committed to asking these questions and advocating for community-centered development that delivers measurable benefits to the people who have called this district home.

What do YOU think meaningful community reparations should look like at the Potrero Power Plant site? Let’s talk in the comments.

✊🏾 POTRERO POWER PLANT REDEVELOPMENT: A LEGACY OF ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE | PART 2

Inside the lobby of the Sophie Maxwell Building—the first building delivered as part of the Potrero Power Plant redevelopment—I saw a mural honoring former District 10 Supervisor Sophie Maxwell and the community’s history of environmental advocacy.

The story behind this site matters.

For years, the power plant was part of a larger struggle over pollution, public health, and the disproportionate environmental burdens placed on communities of color. Its eventual closure represented a major milestone in that fight.

Now, redevelopment presents another question: What does meaningful reparative development actually look like?

Is it simply building new housing on former industrial land? Or does it mean creating lasting opportunities for the Black community that helped fight for environmental justice in the first place?

That means asking who benefits from new investment, whether longtime residents can afford to stay, whether Black families have meaningful opportunities to live here, and whether the neighborhood’s cultural identity will survive its transformation.

We should honor Supervisor Sophie Maxwell’s legacy not only through a mural, but through measurable commitments to environmental health, housing access, economic opportunity, and community power.

The history of this land should shape the future of this neighborhood.

🏗️ POTRERO POWER PLANT REDEVELOPMENT: WHAT’S BENEATH THE SURFACE? | PART 1

I’m on site at the former Potrero Power Plant, where a new residential neighborhood is taking shape in San Francisco’s District 10. But before we celebrate new housing, we need to ask some important questions about the land it’s being built on.

⚠️ What do the soil testing results actually tell us about potential coal tar contamination?

📋 What testing was conducted, what contaminants were found, and what remediation measures were taken before construction and occupancy?

🌱 How can residents independently verify that this site is safe for the people who will live here for generations?

The power plant’s legacy is about more than an old industrial facility. It’s about the environmental burdens carried by surrounding communities and the responsibility to ensure that redevelopment does not repeat the injustices of the past.

I want to see the environmental testing data, understand the remediation process, and make sure the public has access to the information needed to evaluate the site’s safety.

As a candidate for District 10 Supervisor and a USF Master of Public Administration student, I believe public trust starts with transparency, accountability, and evidence.

New housing should never mean unanswered questions about environmental health.

🎥 Follow this three-part series as we examine the Potrero Power Plant redevelopment, its history, and the future of our community.

Greetings from the balcony of the University of San Francisco’s downtown campus at 101 Howard Street, where I’m pursuing my Master of Public Administration (MPA)! 🎓📚

I’m Pearci “PJ” Bastiany III, candidate for District 10 Supervisor, martial artist, entrepreneur, and community advocate. I’m excited to bring my public administration studies and research into the work of solving real problems facing San Francisco.

From affordable housing and public safety to economic development, transportation, and environmental justice, I believe our city’s challenges deserve thoughtful research, innovative solutions, and community-driven leadership.

And sometimes, the best inspiration comes from simply taking a moment to appreciate the world around us. 🌿✨ With the Bay Bridge as my backdrop, some of my favorite sightings from this balcony are the hummingbirds and dragonflies reminding me to slow down, stay curious, and appreciate the beauty of our city.

San Francisco has so much potential. I’m excited to keep learning, researching, and working toward a future where our communities can thrive.

Public service meets public administration. Research meets real-world solutions. Let’s build a better San Francisco—together! 🌉💙
