@kschwarb12 is up for the Roberto Clemente Award this year.

Me, him, @mrs_schwarbs12, @kcdfalcone and a lot of others have been working to bring @schwarbersneighborhoodheroes to life since this started as an idea back in 2017. Somewhere along the way, that idea grew into a real resource for first responders, military members, veterans and their families, while teaching us a hell of a lot about what the needs actually are in that space, especially when it comes to mental health and wellness.

Since then, we’ve awarded more than $1 million in grants, hosted more than 1,810 first responder and military families for special experiences, and our nonprofit partners have helped us impact more than 16,000 people.

On a personal level, this guy basically picked me up off waivers. We’ve sang karaoke, crushed wings and Coots lattes, you’ve trusted me with your family, your house and somehow even your dog. You kept pushing when I wasn’t always sure. You’ve given me autonomy, trusted my judgment and creativity, and let me help build something that means a whole lot more to me than a job.

So yeah, I’m biased. I also know how much work happens when nobody is watching and how little of it Kyle will ever talk about himself.

We’re going to win this thing.

Not just because it would be cool to put another trophy on the shelf. Winning the Roberto Clemente Award puts a national spotlight on this mission and the organizations doing the work every day. More attention means more opportunities, more resources, more grants and ultimately more people we can help.

Kyle has done his part. Now we have to do ours.

Link is in my bio. Vote. Share it. Get your people to vote. Then do it again.

Watch him with @dempster4646 on Intentional Talk tomorrow!
