It’s not always about what you install, it’s about how you install it.

For this bottom row, I customized my bead placement so the Flex Weft 2.0 could sit underneath the beads. That means when she throws her hair into a high pony, the row can flip up naturally without exposing her beads.

Same Flex/Volume Weft stitching technique we know and love, just a little placement adjustment based on how my client actually wears her hair.

Want balayage without actually getting balayage? 👀🤎

That was the goal with this transformation. She wanted longer, fuller hair with lots of dimension, but we didn’t want to chemically alter her natural brunette AT ALL.

Enter Mocha Cookie by @realericvaughn 🤤

We used Flex Weft 2.0 to create the length, fullness and all those gorgeous ribbons of color, then gave her a heavier face frame to really bring that dimension forward.

This is why I love extensions so much. They aren’t always about adding a ton of length. We can use them to completely change the color, fullness and overall look of your hair without bleach or the commitment of permanent color.

If you’ve been wanting a change but your hair is telling you “please don’t bleach me” 😂 come sit in my chair. There might be another way. 🤎

Bbbuuuttttt somewhere along the way, working for myself taught me something MUCH bigger than taking a Tuesday off whenever the hell I want:

‼️Stop waiting for permission‼️

Permission to take the trip. Start the project. Change direction. Put yourself out there. Create the weird thing. Show up alone. Do it before somebody else is ready to do it with you.

Because respectfully… I will ride SOLO at dawn before I spend my life waiting for everyone ELSE to saddle up. 🫡

Especially as a creative, waiting until everything is perfectly aligned is one of the easiest ways to never begin at all.
You’re hardly ever actually ready.
But you ARE prepared.

And 99.9% of the time, that’s enough to say fuck it, let’s see what happens. ✨👻

Oh absolutely… EXCEPT I got the entire process and forgot the after. 🫣 Or the after and NO process. 🤦🏻‍♀️My phone died 😒 My storage was full. 😡 I got overstimulated. 🫠We started yapping.🤪 OR I actually got everything…and it’s been sitting untouched in my camera roll for six months. 💀

Because apparently being the hairstylist, creative director, videographer, editor AND social media manager requires approximately 4 more brains than I was issued. 😂 So if you’re another creative sitting on 14,000 beautifully chaotic clips wondering WTF to do with them…. I see YOU. I AM you. and WEEE have a problem. 🫡😅😆

BBUUTTTTTT if you’re a Boise content creator/video editor who knows what to do with said chaos… PLEASE COME FIND ME. 😂 I’ve got the content, I just need someone to make me actually use it. ✌🏼

Trying something a little different with this install 👀

For this row, I split the weft into three separate pieces: two smaller side sections and one larger section through the back.

My thought was simple. Those first few beads on the sides can take a lot of stress, especially where the natural hair is finer and we tend to be a little rougher on our sides. Separating those sections allows for a little more movement and, in my brain, less tension just makes sense. 🤎

Then came the real test…

4 weeks later 👏🏼

Her grow out looked beautiful. Everything was healthy, secure and exactly what I wanted to see from this little experiment.

So we removed and reinstalled her right while keeping the same placement, and now we wait another four weeks to see how round two grows out.

I love that extensions are never just about adding hair. It’s about constantly finding ways to make the install safer, more comfortable and better for the natural hair.

Your extensions are only as good as the way you take care of them at home. 👏🏼

I took myself over to Beauty Craft Beauty Supply in Boise, to walk through the aisles and show you exactly what I look for when choosing products for hair extensions and more importantly, what I avoid.

💧 MOISTURE is the goal.
When choosing shampoo and conditioner, look for words like moisturizing, hydrating, nourishing and even products designed for curly hair. Curl lines are usually packed with extra moisture, which extension hair LOVES.

🚫 What I avoid:
Reparative
Bonding
Strengthening
Protein-heavy products
Anything heavily focused on “repair”

Those products can be amazing for your natural hair when you need them, but extension hair has different needs. I want to keep those lengths soft, hydrated and manageable.

And I can personally back this up' I’ve been wearing my current extensions for FIVE MONTHS and they still feel incredibly close to the way they did when I installed them. 🤌🏼

Quality hair matters, but I’m truly convinced that how you care for your extensions at home plays a HUGE role in how long they last.

With the right products, routine and maintenance, quality extensions can absolutely last 6-12 months and even beyond.

Think MOISTURE. MOISTURE. MOISTURE. 💦

When Mrs. Idaho American trusts you with her hair for NATIONALS… you make sure she leaves feeling like a QUEEN. 👑✨

I had the incredible opportunity to get Lynita Mrs Idaho American ready before she headed to Las Vegas to represent IDAHO at the Mrs. American national competition! 🇺🇸

Day one was all about the install and we went ALL IN. 😍

✨ Allllll the grams because nationals hair calls for NATIONALS HAIR 💁🏼‍♀️

After seeing everything installed, we both agreed it needed just a little something more. More movement. More layers. More BOUNCE.

So I had her come back the next day, took about 3 inches off the length and created a full, layered shape using the BELLAMI Butterfly Cut techniques I learned from @ahappyjustin . And THAT was the finishing touch. 🤌🏼

The difference a great extension haircut makes is everything. The hair moves, the layers blend beautifully, and she still has that incredible density and length while looking soft and effortless.

Lynita , GOOD LUCK BEAUTIFUL! 👑 Go represent Idaho and soak up every second of this experience. I hope when you walk onto that national stage, you feel every ounce of the confidence you deserve.

Quick little refresh on one of my absolute favorites. ✨

Amanda has been trusting me with her hair for 5+ years, and when I say we’ve been through it ALL together… we have. 😂 Blonde, red, back to blonde, and just about everything in between.

She came in this time and said, “Let’s do a before and after because I want to post about you,” and seriously… 🥹
