Johnny Pump Johnny

During a summer day had opened the pumps for everybody

There’s an especially poor part of town especially ignored.. No city money finds its way to its area code

There’s a hill 5 blocks of drugs, neglect, violence, garbage and filth

No one cares but yet they all get paid.. the city, the cops, the dealers, landlords, and the state.. all turn away to the problems the people here have to face..so there is no place for the kids to play on a summer day…

When New York City was Puerto Rican
in the summer there was no sleeping
Celebration all night
because for the joy
of living
is enough reason
to love
dance
and sing
till the sun comes out in the morning
