(It was such a pleasure getting to meet him many months ago at our local Indivisible meeting.)

the final counts for early voting in Louisiana! 520,942!! i think this breaks all previous records. by @mags504

OK, well I had to cut out before it was over but I did get to listen to Wendell Pierce for a few minutes and Pete Buttigieg. Sadly, I did not get to hear @jamieforlouisiana speak, but I have heard him a few times before and have already voted for him. I feel so hopeful.

it’s unfortunate there wasn’t a larger crowd there but the word about Pete showing up only came out this morning so people had no lead time to try to get there and it was in the middle of a workday. But it’s awesome that he made time in his schedule to come say a few words. He is speaking at a rally on the Gulf Coast in Mississippi later today in support of Scott Colom, who is the Democrat running for Senate there who is also doing really well and has a real shot at it.

Also including this picture that Erin took of us because her blue wave wig is everything!

Things just kind of getting started over here in front of City Hall in Duncan Plaza. So plenty of time to head over before the festivities begin. I only have an hour in my schedule so I imagine I might miss some of it but I’m here now and it wasn’t even hard to park.

I see Wendell Pierce up there already. by @mags504

Very easy quick in and out at Lake Vista! No line but every voting booth was full when I was there (they have a lot!) and there was a steady stream of folks parking and coming in and out of the building. Brisk traffic is what I'd say. Easy to park. They are a well-oiled machine out there. It's been a long time since I voted at that location but it was a good choice.

And I just got an email confirmation from the Orleans Registrar of Voters confirming my early vote had been recorded. Yay!

I got my sticker! And great news - @terranceosborne has changed his offer: apparently the state wouldn't allow him to exchange the stickers for posters so now you don't need to turn in your sticker, just go to his gallery Nov. 2-5 and you can get a free unsigned poster while supplies last. The signed ones are for sale for $50 which is still pretty reasonable for such gorgeous artwork. He says he'll have the signed ones available for sale on his site too.

It's Lily's birthday today! I wish I knew how old she actually was - she's either 3 or 2, I'm really not sure. When I adopted her from @zeusrescues in February 2025 there was a lot of uncertainty about her origins cuz she'd been returned once and I really never got the stories all straight. And I'm pretty sure her birthday is made up too. But we will celebrate nonetheless!!

I love my mischievous, bitchy, always hangry, demanding black cat! She is kind of an asshole a lot of the time, especially when she's scratching on mirrors or knocking large objects over at 5am, but she has her sweet moments. And she really did pick me out, claimed me, the second I picked her up at Zeus'. (see the 2nd slide)

Happy Birthday Lily! 😻🎂❤️ by @mags504

ok, real talk about the upcoming No Kings: Vote Early day, Saturday October 17th here in New Orleans.

no, it's not gonna be like the No Kings days that have come before. there's not gonna be one big protest rally on the Greenway or anywhere else in the city. it's gonna be more decentralized this time and less like a big rally/march and more like lots of simultaneous smaller visibility actions to encourage early voting.

i know some folks are disappointed. but it just didn't make sense with the midterms looming so close to expend all the time and energy for one big event, one that would have pulled folks away from the very real and important work they are doing for candidates and GOTV organizations.

so this time No Kings will be smaller and neighborhood based, and we've chosen a time when volunteers are not usually out canvassing, later in the afternoon.

for No Kings: Vote Early, the Stand Up For Democracy pop-up protest groups will provide the basic framework and locations throughout the city, and we're asking folks who want to participate to show up at your closest location with your NON-PARTISAN pro-democracy, pro-voting, anti-fascist signs and shirts from 3-5pm on Saturday October 17th to help bring visibility to the upcoming Early Voting window in Louisiana from October 20-27 (excluding Sunday Oct. 25).

here's the flyer with the locations. we'd love folks to show up - stay for 15 minutes or 2 hours or anywhere in between. we'll have signs and banners and flyers with early voting, rides to the polls, and party to the polls info. each location is doing their own thing so i can't speak to what's happening elsewhere but in Midcity, on the circle at Esplanade in front of NOMA/City Park, we always have a good time and will be doing our best to make it a festive atmosphere. we like to play music, there may or may not be a giant chicken and various blow-up animal costumes, i think there will be snacks and Penzey's spice packs given out, maybe some buttons and tshirts, and afterwards, some folks are gonna hit Oktoberfest over at the Deutsches Haus to continue the fun and awareness. Better late than never. I’m finally getting around to writing some @postcards2win to voters in swing states. This batch is for Kansas. I’m feeling pretty crappy this afternoon after my treatment so this is the perfect activity to sort of take my mind off of it while I lay on the sofa. by @mags504

i forgot to dump the tube saturday morning before it started raining, so this is a running total since friday, shot earlier this morning. i'm sure it's much more by now as it's pouring outside right now. might overflow the tube by the end of the day!!
