My letter of outcry to the powers that be. My plea for a ceasefire:

Here in the north, it’s third night that the sun has gone down and darkness fallen on Gaza, and that I can’t take it anymore.

For weeks, nothing makes sense.

I stand with my Israeli friends. I stand with their right to a safe homeland free from the attacks of hostile neighbours that refuse their right to exist in their ancestral homeland.

I will defend them. I will speak up for them. I will speak up against growing antisemitism and hate violence. Let me be an ally. Even though many of them may reject me for it, even though I’m bound to do it wrong.

Because “I don’t understand.” It’s true. I only lived there for a year and a quarter.

But I cannot be paralysed into complacency by this notion, And if I’m to help, I have to do it on my terms.

I do not stand with Netanyahus crippling bombing of Gaza. I do not stand with him because he doesn’t stand with Israel.

He would sell Israel’s soul and stab the beating heart of its secular democracy dreams. Just to save his hateful seat on the throne of the promised land.

Why should I stand for him, he couldn’t even arrange for the country the stand for its own people while they were hunted like dogs for hours on end in this deadly massacre, I’m done protecting this delusion.

The perversion, to divide a country and then make it fight for your idea of sovereignty and safety - while you should be trialed in court, convicted and stood down. For tearing this Israel to pieces. These drastic measures. As if this will make people forget that you. Are. A. Criminal.

And if I’m condemned for these words, then Israel is no longer a democracy with freedom of speech & I will have to reevaluate my place there in any case. Because in said case I’m not safe there, and neither are the people that this outcry is on behalf of. No one is.

I’m sickened by the violence. My heart bleeds for the pain & the lives torn apart by it. Children die painful deaths, without medical aid, light, or clean water.

They
Have
Nowhere
Else
To
Go.

Sound familiar?

I told the land to just take me

The way she speaks to me runs deep

Golden sun glistening through leaves
Wind coming off a furious sea
Fissures cracking in my ground water belly

Leaving my body to her gentle hands of mercy

I will yield to you. Give myself over and over
Carve valleys through me and through them let wild rushing water flow, golden with tannins and alive with fish

Tether me like moss to your rocky landscapes.
Let my veins become tree roots, nourishing then falling back down as rain.

Let me be the start of the circle and the end.
The middle and the between

Inside and outside take me over

I’ll be sprouting rusted leaves of clover, moving like a restless lover

Breathing spreading mountain mist
Sweat becoming tarns, heaving breasts the munros, eventually in ecstasy stilled

Before being awakened in the misty chill of morning
Breath fogging the miracle before me. That always exists before my eyes;

This. life.

Between dreams of creation, being the creator

Here, again

With my beating heart, perspiring skin, cells renewing, ears hearing, womb shedding, stomach digesting, neurons firing, lips parting with this very inhale

I am created

—
Jessi and I started writing a few lines of this poem while wandering in Scotland. The first line was hers. I finished it in a nightlong fit of sleepless that same night, as we attempted sleeping in a small car. We were deep in the middle of the flow country, an area of about 4000km2 of blanket bog and peat, overlooking beautiful big lakes and bush (If you’re interested in unique ecosystems read about it, it’s truely amazing).

So deep in nature, that in both waking and sleeping hours we truely, were becoming that nature that surrounded us.

Scottish faeries adventure 🍃🤍 Alba, Scotland, thank you for holding us. The magic was too immense to be captured fully by any means other than presence.

We climbed mountains, sang, journaled, cried, laughed, couchsurfed, foraged, hitchhiked, meeting the most beautiful souls along the way. Did river crossings me walking on hands and feet. Held each other. Dived into freezing cold water. Drank whiskey to stay warm. Deepened our sister kin connection. Created art. Visited the northern islands of Orkney and meditated in blackened cairns beneath the earth. Danced up high with the clouds and peat. Reenvisoned our futures. Made days fires and ceremony drenched in frankincense smoke. Gathered around ancient stones and song lines. Created magic and witnessed magic.

Received kindness, hospitality and generosity beyond what we could have ever imagined.

Distilling this trip will take time, it meant so much to us both to be on this land. Gently refabricating long frayed tethers to ancestry, returning rich fertile earth and lush freeness, moss, breathing fresh mountain air after a year in the dry desert.

The gentle nature of being with this earth sister has warmed my soul so profoundly. So much that I wonder how I would ever live without these kinds of connections.

I don’t think we ever should.

Thank you @madam.thorne, I love you sister of my heart.

(This won’t be the last I share of this magic…we have some kinda beautiful things to stitch together yet)

They say it can take an average faery several decades to learn to fly. 🧚

I took this video the morning after an intensely potent night in the desert with plant medicine & meteorite showers where the fullness of my faery spirit was revealed to me.

I learned that I’m at the very beginning of a journey of self realisation beyond what I even thought was possible.

We all are.

The universe is a fluffy playful animal that loves to serve our growth in tricksy riddle like ways. The magic key to the universe is trust, trust that every little thing is a journey toward infinite love. A love bigger than any we have ever known.

All possibility is held within this infinite experience of consciousness.

Under the fig tree, Muftu told me the stories of his grandmothers hut in Kenya. The kitchen. The small cooking fire. Her foods. The trees there.

How the kitchen and its fire was the place to gather, to share the ancestral recipes, the medicines, and stories.

By the wisdom of his grandmother, the tree, is the symbol of the people. Branches of knowledge reaching out into all of creation. The need to nourish the roots. The wisdom forming a mighty trunk, and the strength and uprightness it offers the community.

So we painted this. His grandmothers hut with the tree growing up and out of its foundations. Then we danced.

Whirling cocreation, delighting in this tree, the shade it gave us on the hot summer day, dancing the stories of the mother energy, harmonising the divine masculine, and feminine. Celebrating seeds of grandmother wisdom carrying him as he spreads the wisdom of his tribe in this land that has held him for the past four years.

Muftu my friend. You’re magic incarnate and I love knowing you. Though your grandmother no longer walks in this world anymore, perhaps these weavings and creations are us dreaming her wisdom into real time. And somehow bringing spirit to dance with us.

Thank you for all the stories you share, all you teach me, us.

This colliding of skin and earth pigments moves me to create in a way that I just can’t describe yet. Something about the way earth on skin weaves us back into the earth where we belong.

And from that belonging the way the person that has been painted then moves and shines in their earthy majesty.

These photos and videos and the painting, were completely spontaneous and all happened within a fraction of an hour.

It’s a kind of magic 🍃

desert earth pigments + honey + tree sap + skin.

Hi hi! After the rain comes the sun again 🌞 Also! Boobies are ok! My (Māori) women ancestors walked with their full breasts exposed and it was customary instead to conceal the belly button, as this was the most sacred/personal - the link to life and creation.

Times change, customs and social norms change.

The other someone in my family shamed me for how much I show of my body.

They implied that I’m becoming vulgar and distasteful. That I’m on a slippery slope towards somewhere no good.

It hurt for a bit, and I even considered feeling ashamed of myself.. thinking maybe I’m talk this whole body liberation thing too far.

But then I remembered that there have always needed to be people that run against the grain of society - as a kind of balancer or control group. And although I may occasionally make someone feel slightly uncomfortable or press up against someone’s perceived normality, my happiness is important too.

It took me most of my life to truely love this body. And I feel happiest when my skin is free light, when all of me sees the sun.. and of course when I can dance, laugh and have fun.

In many parts of the world, no less where I live, the days of my people walking with breasts free and happy in the sunshine being a cultural normal are no longer (for women) so I find a middle ground somewhere in there.

Seems to be working for now. I respectfully keep myself and my life giving mammary glands shielded from the public eye. But! bras are off my list of essentials, nip slips are, well, not the end of the world anymore - and I covet body proud spaces and people.

Because, in the words of Sonya Renee Taylor, my body is not an apology, and neither is this post.

Moral of the story:

In a subtle and perhaps unspoken way, make the next woman you see sunning her boobs on the beach or elsewhere feel like a totally beautiful and normal part of nature.

She is.

And enjoy the sunshine.

There wasn’t space for yin.

There wasn’t space for the conversations.

The need to take care of expectations, commitments, money, risk, dynamics.

Was too strong.

This is the work. To find the yin way of things in this life, and it’s not easy.

Women wounds run deep. The patriarchy runs deep.

For these reasons, I realised it was too soon to run an overnight retreat in the desert.

This land, all this complexity, everything entailed in living in this pressure pot situation that is Israel. Immigrating to new country, even if for a limited time. Fostering deep ties with the people around me. Attempting trust.

There’s conflict at the the borders, conflict in occupied territories, families torn apart. More trauma, more wounds, more alienation, more hatred, protests in the capitals, unrest.

I can’t help but feel everything. Good people here just try to live good and humble lives and take care of the communities that they exist in, on a smaller scale. And.. bad (broken) people here hurt people. It’s the same everywhere in the world.

The problems here, and out there are too big, too complex, too hard to understand.

I live in a complicated land. Nestled in a complicated world.

How is it all related to this little overnight womens retreat?

Because everything is energy. Everything affects this water cancerian crab spirit of mine, and if I can be totally honest with you, this first year of major change in my life has left me kinda exhausted.

Some things just take time and this is one of them.

So I’m putting all the excitement a vision that I felt for making this womens time in the desert back in the realm of creativity and possibility for whenever the time is right.

Swallowing my pride for getting too excited, being to public, too optimistic.

Admitting my flaws, my sometimes lack of judgement - occasional lack of foresight. Occasional ignorance of my own intuition which is to start small, go slow, as is the way of the ancient yin.

To this moment, I offer my vulnerability, my sweetness and my self forgiveness.

Happy 31st to me,

Deep and humble bows to all the gifts and lessons life bestows upon me.

And to all of you.

With love,

My higher knowing is making it really hard for me to stay small.

It’s tugging at the frayed edges of my clothes and precarious edges of these walls of safety I’ve built around myself.

I’ve been in a rest phase, feeding parts of myself that had become malnourished and reclusive after years of living in a way that didn’t honour my needs.. for happiness, expression and connection.

Now I’ve landed on the other side of the world, and I have to show up. With everything that I am, to make this work.

This thing of working in things that truely deeply matter to me, and supporting myself from them.

And it’s really not an easy thing to just do.

Hiding behind a brick and mortar business for over 5 years, means that I didn’t put myself, my face, my gifts at the forefront of my work. It means my online presence is pretty small and all I have is my word, to tell people here that my offerings have value.

This video is from this afternoon’s desert walk exploring the grounds around the venue where I plan to run my first full weekend women’s retreat in the Middle East.

Choosing to do this is actually kinda terrifying, there’s a lot of risk, both financially and in terms of pride. I want it to work so much.

And I know it will, I’ve been guided to the decision to do this by so many moments of deep connection with nature, self and sisterhood.

I just have to let my resistance to promoting things online soften and trust that people are willing to listen and celebrate alongside me what’s important to me.

To trust in the value I bring. And to accept me even if my offerings and interests do align with theirs.

The thing is too, some people won’t, and so there is surrender to loss too.

No matter how I feel, my insecurities. This transformative, empowering, healing feminine energy is demanding to flow through me and I can only say yes.

It begins with The Wild Sister Circle in Pardeshanna on the 27th on June, a 5 hour event with @wild.healing.arts

From there, my first full weekend women’s retreat away from my homeland: The Wild Woman Desert Retreat, 20-22 of July.. more on that soon.

I’m ready to manifest all of this and more with pride & grace. by @maiamoeone
