Have I been sewing??? Well….I had to finish this! (And we took a little biking getaway - more on that later.). The @sailboat cardigan by #marymaxim is done! It turns out my gauge wasn’t spot on after all. It’s a bit longer than it should be. The shawl collar gave me many fits and starts. This is a vintage pattern so there is no help on Ravelry. I poked around on posts about the #wolfcardigan but couldn’t find specific help. After ripping out the collar multiple times I knit a long one that matches the distance around the neckline. I took Cecilia to the knit shop and let her pick out buttons. She went from rainbows to polka dots and to having a different one in each spot. I had to point to ones that were the correct size and she settled on these green ones. They don’t quite match - the red toggles would have been cute - but I wanted it to be her choice. I snagged a few photos after buying the buttons. The winds picked up and she decided to put the sweater on. I hope to get more photos at some point. It’s really going to more like a jacket. #knitting by @maidenjane

We’ve entered hat season! This is my #musselburgh hat. Am I sewing? Yes. Am I soaking in these glorious days? Yes. Am I struggling to finish my sailboat cardigan? YES! I can’t get the collar to work. It’s too short. I’m going to rip back, make it longer and try again! by @maidenjane

A little update on the #MaryMaxim Children’s #Sailboat Cardigan. I have been cruising along and ran out of the recommended quantity of main color yarn before I could make the shawl collar! When I went to order it I learned it was sold out! Likely due to the popularity of the wolf cardigan. It’s back in stock and I’m patiently waiting for it to be shipped. I’ve woven in most of the ends. It’s going to be big on my granddaughter but she should be able to wear it for years. This was a fun project so far. The colorwork was challenging and it knit up quickly. I have quite a bit of the colors left so I’ll probably make a hat. #maidenjane #knittersofig #knitting by @maidenjane

The #marymaxim #sailboat Children’s Cardigan is ready to be sewn up as soon as the right front dries. I finished the last section with just a wee bit of yarn left. BUT, after it is sewn up I need to knit a shawl collar! With no yarn left I went to their website and the Cottonwood color was sold out! (Due to the popularity of the #wolfcardigan ). Luckily, they restocked and I ordered the extra skein. I’m so excited to complete this and then take C to look for buttons. I’m thinking red would be fun. #maidenjane #knitting by @maidenjane

This batch of #marchingband pillows was quite an adventure. It was commissioned as gifts for a group of senior band members using old #uniforms. The Panthers on the back was too long to fit so I put it on an angle. I also removed two patches from the sleeve and appliquéd them into the front and back. I hope the seniors enjoy them! #maidenjane #uocycle. PS I am no longer accepting band fundraising projects. I have enjoyed working with many schools over the years, including University of Michigan. However I will still accept retail orders. by @maidenjane

It was great to work with this marching band uniform top to create a memory pillow. The newer jacket didn’t have all the layers underneath that make a mess of my sewing room! And also make me sneeze! You cannot imagine the number of emails and texts that took place between my client and me. This is only the second #starbucks apron tote that I made and my client had ideas that evolved. We took our time with each step. She selected this cute little bunny fabric as the filler and I used it for the lining. I removed the four pockets and sewed two on each side and two inside. I mocked up the size before I made final cuts to ensure the size she wanted. Finished size is 18” x 16” x 5”. Excited to send it off to her! #maidenjane #upcycle #aprons #customsewing by @maidenjane

Now I can share my #babyshower gift. As you may know by now, I like to give a simple minky quilt. This has a frog theme and there were lots of fun fabrics to choose from including a Kaffe Fasset floral. This sweet taggy blanket was also commissioned by my cousin. If you care to swipe through all 17 photos you will see the pictures I sent to my cousin with questions. We used vintage outfits that her son wore (I think it was only her son?) to make this boy-themed texture blankie. I took some elements and appliquéd them. The heart was made from the shorts. And then I added various ribbons and labels, including a label that came from the cruise ship shirt used to make the teddy bear. Isn’t this teddy bear the cutest? My cousin is creative and sentimental. Her second daughter is expecting a baby - so she will be blessed with two grandchildren this year! She just hosted a lovely shower and I can share one of the gifts she commissioned. This is made from my uncle’s shirt. We both thought it might by too busy but it actually came out quite fun. I fussy cut it to feature a cruise ship on the belly and tried to keep the areas near the eyes and nose a bit less busy. This will be a sweet keepsake for baby and special memory of mom’s grandfather. #maidenjane by @maidenjane
