What exactly is a match cut?

It’s more than just a flashy transition.

It’s a seamless way to connect ideas through shapes, movements, or sounds.

Continuity = flow.

Flow = watch time.

This is one of my favorite editing techniques because you can slip in meaning, while still being visually pleasing.

What a year…
I’m not even sure where to start.

From living in New Haven in 2024, to moving back into my parents’ house…
From taking multiple trips to Florida, to quitting my 9–5 editing/producer job…
From uncertainty, risk, and doubt — to going all in on myself and Mailman Media.

This year was about betting on my vision and trusting that the work would carry me.

Huge thank you to the @burgiosousateam for giving me an office space when I needed it most — that support meant more than you know.

During all of this, I found myself in the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. The anxiety and stress were overwhelming. Creating quite literally saved my life.

I learned that everything comes down to three things:
the circle you keep, the work you commit to, and your connection to God.

A good friend of mine, @erik_sousa_broker, said something that stuck with me all year — that anxiety, fear, doubt, and stress are actually a disservice to God. That’s exactly what the enemy wants. Faith is trusting even when things don’t make sense yet.

To everyone I worked with this year — thank you for trusting me with your stories. I hope I helped you visualize your purpose and bring your message to life.

If you’re still reading this, I hope you have an absolutely amazing 2026.
I love you. Trust God. Believe in His light. Anything is possible.

Paid partnership with invideo. @invideo.io @invideo.creators

I took an FPV flight I’d already edited and asked invideo Editor’s Agentic Sound Design to build sounds around the close tree passes and near-ground moments. It laid out a first pass on the timeline, then I brought the XML and audio into Premiere Pro to fine-tune the timing and mix.

Listen to the before and after with headphones 🎧

My workflow tip: I uploaded a lighter export with the same timing as my final cut so the upload would go faster. That’s just my personal recommendation.

Breakdown of the teleportation effect I used in recent real estate edit:

• Film clean background plates for a teleportation effect
• Lock your camera, focus, exposure, and composition
• Direct your subject’s movements to help sell the effect
• Organize the blank-room and subject clips in Premiere Pro
• Build an animated circular ripple from scratch
• Create distortion using the Displacement Map effect
• Blend your subject into the scene using opacity
• Add Turbulent Displace for a less-perfect ripple
• Add chromatic aberration, flashes, and camera shake
• Polish and color-grade the final effect
