#mindshot 261: It’s running out by @maivisto

🎈 This small personal project I started years ago opened so many doors to new relationships, deep conversations, and exciting projects with clients worldwide.

I created dozens of Mindshots before I even considered sharing them.

And when I did, my expectations honestly were… zero.

I really believed: Who cares about what I think? Who will even understand the images I create?

I was wrong. So many of you did care and shared your thoughts and opinions.

And that’s the point.

If we can learn something from this:

The life-changing project you’re working on so hard (or postponing even harder) might already be lying somewhere in your drawer, waiting to get out.

Check your old folders, your dusty stacks of paper, and everything you once considered unworthy to share.

Maybe they are. Maybe they are not.

That’s not your decision to make.

You’ve done your job. Now let’s see what the world makes of it.

What I’ve learned is that we, as creators, rarely have the distance to truly evaluate what we made.

We’re just too close.

I couldn’t articulate this better than @thechrisdo in A Pocket Full of Do:

„You can’t read the label when you’re inside the bottle. That’s why we need others to help us see what’s right in front of us.“

Dare and share. We are waiting. by @maivisto

Creative Quests is a gamified creative development system designed to help you move from consuming to creating.

Built around classic RPG mechanics inspired by games like Zelda and Final Fantasy, the system guides you through a self-paced creative journey filled with 50 Creative Quests, skill tracking, progression systems, and printable tools to visually document your growth.

I created it because I know how difficult starting can feel.
But I also know how rewarding creative flow becomes once you enter it.

The goal was simple:
Make starting easier.
Make creating more consistent.
Make creativity feel like an adventure again.

Hope you enjoy the journey and feel free to share your experience with me.

Have a creative life.

For my German-speaking friends:

I recently had the pleasure of joining Andreas Liebold on the @radiobielefeld podcast Liebold Live.

We talked about my work as an illustrator for brands and organisations such as Coca-Cola, FC Bayern Munich, and the German Government, and also about some of the pivotal moments along the way.

One of those stories was my trip from Sydney to Beijing in 2011, where I wanted to discover how people on the other side of the world create and design (and how ignoring my gut feeling on the very last day of that journey led me into quite a tense situation).

A big thank you to Andreas Liebold for the wonderful conversation and for asking such thoughtful and unexpected questions.
