*new blog post 🚨 link in bio* geometric shape Bauhaus-inspired paper collage project!

I'm really excited about this project! My students recently finished this geometric shape Bauhaus-inspired paper collage project. As I watched them independently work, I heard them asking eachother questions like... "Does this look balanced here?" .... "Do you think I need to add more yellow on the left side?" .... "Should I put the circle or rectangle here?"

It was an art teacher's dream! In addition, this project works in art history, builds art vocabulary, and helps students to focus on craftsmanship and presentation.

Hey art teachers! After years of tweaking my rules, here is the art room rules poster that works for me!

We go over what “table talk” looks like (not yelling, keeping conversation at a regulated volume) and what constitutes “essential movement” (such as throwing something away, sharpening a pencil). You can determine what that looks like for you in your classroom!
I sent mine to a print shop and got it printed 30” by 30” which fits nicely on my bulletin board.#art #artteachers #artteacherlife #arted #arteducator art by @makeamark_studios

Check out these awesome creations by our 8-11 year old artists! 🎨✨

In this exciting project, our artists designed their very own original cartoon characters!

We focused on learning how to overlap characters and objects to create depth and make their artwork feel more dynamic and alive.

To level up the challenge, each artist was limited to choosing just 4–5 colors to create unity and harmony throughout their piece. It’s amazing to see how cohesive and bold their artwork became by thoughtfully repeating their color palette!

So proud of their creativity and artistic growth! 💛

A large work I made to demonstrate to my students some abstract expressionist techniques like mark making, layering, creating textures, and just overall… loosening up, embracing the experimentation, and being more spontaneous in the creative process. They’ve done a great job with it so far . by @makeamark_studios
