As a custom furniture maker, sometimes you trust your client and sometimes your client trusts you. This was one of those orders where that trust was extended in both directions, and it resulted in two of the most amazing tables I think I’ve ever produced. Both tables were made from the same tree, but each received it’s own unique treatment. The coffee table is a split river table with a deep blue resin; and the side table had a lot of cracks that were inlaid with crushed turquoise. The table legs were custom built and imported from Prague specifically to match the vision my client had for these.

Either piece by itself would be a conversation starter all its own, but paired together, they will truly be the center of attention for many years to come!

Here we go… #mayformakers2023
Hi! I’m Ben. I run Make For Life Workshop. I am primarily a woodworker, but you’ll see me dabble in all sorts of projects, including resin, 3d printing, CNC machining, raspberry pi, and whatever else strikes my fancy.
.:.
I am a family man with a gorgeous wife (@sarahniemannstudio) and two rad kids. I’ve got a great day job working in IT Management. I’m also aspiring to make more and better content as I go along.
.:.
If I don’t know you already, please feel free to introduce yourself in the comments. Who knows… it may be the start of a great friendship 😊

#mayformakers2023 Day 13 - Greatest Accomplishment - This maker journey has given me the confidence to try new things and to push myself to be a better and better craftsman in everything I put my hands to. The growth I’ve experienced is so much more important to me than any individual project, but it has led to some pretty cool projects along the way!

I’ll have to figure out beauty pics later, but here’s what I’ve been working on… a mid century modern desk for my son @artborne.ig so he has a nice cozy place to be creative. So proud of the artist he’s growing into, so I wanted to make him a stylish desk that will last a lifetime.

It has occurred to me that I never shared these beauty shots of the whiskey cup I made for @griffin.makes as part of our D&D group’s Secret Santa Christmas Gift Swap. The oak was salvaged from a house that was over 150 years old. I charred the interior and then hit it with @rubiomonocoatusa for the perfect finish. Cheers!

Wanna see how awkward ya boy is in real life? They gave me instructions on what to do and I still lost the plot 🤣🤣

Anyway, thanks again to @meta and the Small Business Leaders Network for allowing us the opportunity to share our thoughts with our nation’s policy makers; I don’t take it for granted. I also met some incredibly inspiring small business owners from all over the country and left DC with a new fire to grow my business and step into what’s next! 🔥 💪🏻

We’re back on Capitol Hill today advocating for small businesses in North Carolina. Thanks to @meta for the opportunity to get in front of our state’s decision makers and to @senthomtillis & @sentedbudd for their polices that support our efforts.
