64 SCHOOL SNACKS FOR $13.29

Save these for your next easy snack ideas!

🍭 HOMEMADE LCM BARS
4 cups Rice Bubbles
½ bag marshmallows (approx. 255g)
80g butter
Sprinkles

Melt butter, add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Turn off the heat, mix through Rice Bubbles, then press firmly into a lined baking dish. Add sprinkles and refrigerate until set. Slice into bars!

🥖 HOMEMADE BREAD ROLLS
1 cup lukewarm water
1 sachet instant yeast
1 tbsp sugar
1 egg
¼ cup oil
4 cups flour
Egg wash + sesame seeds

Mix water, yeast + sugar. Add egg and oil, then mix in flour to form a dough. Lightly knead, cover and leave to rise for 1 hour. Degas, lightly knead again, portion and roll into balls. Place in a tray, cover and rise another 20 mins. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake at 180°C for around 15–20 mins, or until golden.

Both ridiculously easy, freezer-friendly and perfect for filling up the kids lunchboxes without spending a fortune.

12 HAM & CHEESE MUFFINS FOR UNDER $5! 🧀😍

An easy, budget-friendly lunchbox snack that the kids will love! Perfect for using up leftover ham and cheese too.

2 eggs
½ cup milk
1 tbsp oil
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
Ham & grated cheese

Preheat oven to 180°C.
Whisk eggs, milk and oil together.
Add dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Fold through ham and cheese.
Spoon into a greased muffin tray and bake for 20 minutes or until golden.

Makes 12 muffins for approximately $4.76! 🙌

I used Woolworths’ refreshed Any 3 for $25 on selected family favourites range to get the proteins sorted, then added a few extras to make three dinners for the whānau!

🍰 $4.33 Old-School School Cake

Ingredients

200g margarine (about ¾ cup + 1 tbsp) — $0.80
200g caster sugar (1 cup) — $0.50
3 eggs — $1.88
1 tsp vanilla extract — $0.35
200g self-raising flour (about 1⅓ cups) — $0.33
Icing

200g icing sugar (about 1⅔ cups) — $0.40
2 tbsp milk — $0.07
Sprinkles

Cream the margarine and caster sugar together until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla.

Gently fold in the self-raising flour until just combined.

Pour into a lined baking dish and bake at 180°C (160°C fan bake) for around 25–30 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.

Let it cool completely. Mix the icing sugar with 2 tbsp milk, spread over the cake and finish with sprinkles.
