2025 what a year it’s been.
Our year started off with a tropical trip to Belize, spending our days lounging on the shores of the Caribbean Sea.

After we returned Sarah endured too many medical appointments and a longer recovery than anyone should have to. But she’s on the other side of it and doing better all the time. I’m thankful and grateful for her everyday.

The year also included some quality time with friends and family in Colorado, some great live musics and I built a few things.

But by far the most satisfying part of my year was the time I spent remodeling and designing my studio. The space is now complete and I’m able to actually start working on projects. It’s my favorite place! I’m so happy have a design/build studio that allows me to create and work.

Harvested the last of the veggies from the garden before the first frost. Then today I combined the green tomatoes with onions, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar plus cinnamon, ginger and cloves to make a tasty chutney that I’ll enjoy all winter long.

Our new yard continues to reveal its natural beauty to us. Sarah has planted several vegetables in the big raised beds but the yard itself keeps keeping us guessing. Our new house has come with a very well established series of garden areas. As Spring arrives we are taking in the new sights and colors of the place. Contemplating what the next chapter of this yard will look like - what areas will stay, which areas will change. For now we’re trying to simply enjoy the view.

Been watching shadows create patterns across the sand, made use of our blender (with some local rum), got visited by a lizard and generally lazed around doing very little. It’s what you do with the end of your time in Belize.

Today has been a lot like yesterday. When the view looks like this, staying put and watching the world go by is oh so tempting.
We did venture out for lunch and visited the Turtle Inn, it’s a Francis Ford Copala owned resort and the burger was delicious.

Today’s activities can sort of be summed up by this picture 😁
Some vacations are filled with adventure, outings, sight seeing, doing, going, moving, checking off wish lists.
Ours on the other hand has been focused on loads of quality down time and deep relaxation. Here is a pic of @sarahs209 doing a great job of demonstrating our vacation style.

Today we left the foothills of the Myan mountains, from our jungle stay, and headed to the coast of the Caribbean Sea.
We drove across the countryside, through small villages and lush green terrain to arrive at our home for the next few days, in the town of Maya Beach. We are literally on the ocean! This is incredible!

Today’s been extra relaxing. Most of the time we’re simply on the front porch watching the world go by. One highlight was walking the property we’re staying on to enjoy the tropical flowers
We also visited a local coffee farm - @oxmulcoffee - where a family has essentially introduced coffee to this region of Belize. On their 27 acre farm they grow beans in a very slow, low production way. All of the harvesting, processing and roasting is done by hand in small batches. by @makeroommpls

Filled with perfect temps, beautiful birds, delicious fresh squeezed juice and friendly people, Belize is the balm we were looking for. Started today on our front porch with a concert of bird sounds as the jungle was waking up around us. We also saw Myan ruins, had fry jacks and crossed a river on a hand-cranked ferry. Not bad for day 1.

Saw the Stanley Whitney show, How High The Moon at the Walker Art Center today before it closes next month.
As I asked one of the staff members for directions to the correct gallery he said, “yeah, you’ll want to see it before it goes, it’s a burst of energy, it’s pure orange juice!!!”
After walking through and taking in the paintings, I’d have to say he was right!
