Tweedy footwear!
Wellington boots, 1930s style. Researched from Life magazines. Silicon was so useful - to roll down, to access the armature joints and adjust with allen key. With tie-down holes in the sole - to attach to the set.
Mrs Tweedy's slippers were dyed stretch-silk, over a former, with faux fur trim - set into a silicon sole. by @makitsew

Mrs Tweedy.
Much R&D - as this was Aardman's first film for the big screen and every detail loomed large.
Partly inspired by my Aunt on a farm, with her tightly belted dress and wellington boots - and
Sears catalogue's 50s dresses with large spot motif's - led to the 'chicken feet and worms' spot motif on poly crepe fabric.
Multiples of this costume made for many stage sets. by @makitsew

Quarter of a century ago I worked on costumes for Chicken Run.

We had a welcome break from making tiny costumes - and made Nick Park's giant 'Wallace trousers'

32 years old here - on a 3 month road trip on the west coast of America with Gesine, for interviews with our show reels at stop-motion studios. We bought a car, camped and sofa surfed from LA, San Fran, Portland Oregon, Yosemite, Vancouver - and back. Henry Sellick's studios of 30 x table-top animation sets for 'James and the Giant Peach'. Tim Burton's 'Mars Attacks'. Will Vinton's studio ( which became Laika). Returned to Britain and worked on designing/ making many costumes for Mr and Mrs Tweedy on 'Chicken Run' in Bristol for 2 years. by @makitsew

Excellent night last week @ams parteee. Oh yeah!
Celebrating 20 years of AMS stopmotion puppets and sets. 10 years ago I was furring away for 10 months on those little dogs for Wes Anderson's 'Isle of Dogs'. The company has made 'Ralph' - the anti-animal testing stop motion short film ( which helped stop vivisection in Mexico) Fantastic Mr Fox, Frankenweenie. Commercials. Much more.
