August was my birthday. September was Mal’IDEA’s 🎂💜
Two birthdays. Two sets of candles. A whole lot to celebrate.

August was a little reminder to celebrate me. The person behind the ideas, the late nights, the random “wait… what if I did this?” moments. And then September came around and it was time to celebrate the IDEA itself.

One year of Mal’IDEA.
If you’ve been here since SuciaSips, you already know how different this looks from where it started. And if you found me somewhere along the way, I'm glad you're here.

I'm closing out this season feeling grateful, a little nostalgic, and very curious about what's next.

finally introducing the person behind the drinks, the pop-ups, the food, the bartending, las desveladas, el core core y todo este relajo qué es Mal’IDEA

Mi nombre es Veronica Maleni
Algunos me llaman Vero, some call me Mal, and honestly… I love both

And if you’ve ever wondered where Mal’IDEA came from… well, it’s literally Mal & IDEA.

Mal = Maleni
IDEA = las primeras letras de mis hijos

So basically… this whole thing started with me, my kids, and one little IDEA and somehow that IDEA turned into mobile bars, pop-ups, tacos, chilaquiles, cafecitos, aguas frescas, and so much more

Behind every drink, every plate, every setup and every crazy event is a whole lot of love, a big support system, and my little family reminding me why I started

One year ago, I had no idea what Mal’IDEA would become.
And somehow, here we are.
What makes this even more special is that one year ago, I was doing the same event for the first time. And this year, I found myself back again but this time as a whole different version of Mal’IDEA.

A lot has changed in one year.
The menu changed
The setup changed
The ideas got bigger
I learned A LOT

I questioned myself more than a few times 🥴
and somehow, I kept going
But the reason I started? That part hasn't changed!
I wanted to create something that was mine. Something that brought people together through food, drinks, culture, and a little bit of “let's see what happens.”
And now I'm sitting here looking at this video thinking…
Damn I really did that

To everyone who has supported Mal’IDEA in ANY way over this past year. whether you bought something, booked me, came to a pop-up, shared my posts, told somebody about me, or simply said “I see you” thank you
This year wasn't perfect. It wasn't always easy. But it was mine.

Goodbye August 💜

August was my birthday month, but the best gift wasn't something I could unwrap.
It was community.
Seeing people show up.
Seeing familiar faces.
Meeting new people.
Supporting local.
Walking together.
Eating together.
Celebrating together.

My birthday pop-up and the Mental Health Walk reminded me why community is so important. Because sometimes it's not about what you can give someone. Sometimes it's simply about showing up.
And y'all showed up! 🥹

Thank you to everyone who came out, supported, shared, reposted, purchased, encouraged me, or simply stopped by to say hello.

Somewhere between watching Lizzie McGuire after school and standing in that crowd watching Hilary Duff, little me and grown me got to meet 🥹

She had no idea what was ahead of her but I think she’d be pretty proud of the woman who kept a little bit of that girl alive.

20+ years later… and the dream still felt just as magical. 💕
