Lighting design doesn’t start with choosing lights.

It starts with deciding what deserves attention - an artwork, a material, a piece of joinery, a table, a path through a space.

Then where the light should come from.
And just as importantly, what can be left alone.

Only then does the fitting become the decision.

Design the light first. Specify the fitting second.

Welcome to the first Behind the Lighting Plan.

Instead of only showing the finished photos, I wanted to share the thinking behind them.

This series breaks down the design decisions that shaped the lighting throughout this home, showing how every choice influences the next to create a cohesive result.

Every home is different, so every lighting plan should be too.

If you’ve ever wondered why a lighting plan is so much more than choosing where the downlights go, this series is for you.

First up…

Meet the team 👷‍♂️⚡️

Let’s give a big shout out to Giacomo!

Giaco recently completed his apprenticeship with Mall Electric and has officially earned his A Grade Electrical Licence!

A milestone that’s a testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment during his apprenticeship in the trade.

We’re incredibly proud to have watched him grow from apprentice to qualified electrician.

When he’s not wiring up homes and keeping projects on track, you’ll find Giaco pulling on the boots kicking goals in the EDFL’s Premier Division, where he brings the same teamwork and determination that he does on the job.

Whether it’s new builds, renovations or fault finding, Giaco takes pride in delivering quality work and great service to every customer.

Congratulations Giaco we are excited to have you as one of our A Grade electricians and can’t wait to see what the future holds! 👏⚡

This ‘ole house is looking the goods. All done ✔️ here’s your sneak of the kitchen living and dining room. Wishy washy whites and rattan mirrors have always my worst nightmare. We wanted bold organic colours, embracing the colours from outside. It’s warm, it’s inviting and it’s just lush. I can’t believe what we’ve pulled off! New series coming to 10 in May! As the year comes to a close, my family and I just want to take a moment to say thank you.

To our clients, wholesalers, and everyone who supports us your trust, loyalty, and encouragement mean more than we can say.

Whether you’ve worked with us, shared our posts, or simply followed along, you’ve been a huge part of our journey this year.

We’re incredibly grateful for the relationships we’ve built and the support we continue to receive.

Wishing you and your families a safe, happy, and well-deserved Christmas break, and we look forward to what the new year brings and continuing to support you in 2026 with all your electrical needs from residential and commercial work to maintenance, upgrades, and new projects.

This ensuite filled with steam and condensation in less than a minute due to poor design and installation.

The result? Peeling paint, mould growth, fogged mirrors, and long-term damage to your bathroom surfaces.

After installing a properly sized and correctly ducted ventilation system, the transformation is instant!

Clear air, dry mirrors, and a healthier space 👌.

💨 Poor ventilation:
– Excess moisture buildup
– Mould and mildew
– Damp smells & damaged finishes

✅ Good ventilation:
– Removes humidity fast
– Prevents mould and rot
– Keeps your bathroom fresh and clean

If your bathroom looks like the before video during and after a shower, it might be time for a ventilation upgrade.
