Scott Wampler was a singular person, and our friendship was just as singular. We knew each other better than anyone else, simple as that. Putting it into words seems useless, but I’m going to try.
Scott and I understood each other in ways that are difficult to describe. We came from similar hardships, had similar dreams, the exact same sense of humor, and most importantly, were the exact same kind of weird little freak. We were family.
Scott and I, as he used to say, honed each other. We fought and argued all the time, always with love. He made me better.
I quite literally do not know how to live without him. His wit, his charm, his wisdom, his wild ideas, his kindness, his unflagging commitment to busting my balls, and his unwavering support. I am in hysterics thinking about living the rest of my life without him.
Losing Scott is something I will never heal from. But I am grateful for every single day I knew him, every time he made me laugh, every adventure we got to have.
I’ll write up something proper for the memorial, but for now, just know that I loved Scott Wampler from the bottom of my heart. He was one of the best friends I’ll ever have. My true ride or die. And I’m furious that he’s not here for me to make fun of him for taking it literally.
Rest in peace, Cantaloupe. I will carry you in my heart forever. by @malloryomeara
