September means Fall is here! This month we sit down with Chris Steinkamp, Executive Director of Mountain Towns 2030, to talk about how mountain communities are becoming the test labs for real climate solutions — from resilient infrastructure to the climate tech actually getting deployed on the ground. Malone also nerds out hard on geothermal energy, because obviously the onsens had to come up. We also break down the Mountain Towns 2030 Summit — Oct 13–14 in Sun Valley, ID — where 600+ people from 80 mountain communities and 50 ski resorts show up to build what's next for climate action in places like ours. Anyone can attend, not just industry — register at mt2030.org. New episode is live now — link in bio to listen or watch.

Summer is flying by, but we've got a new episode to remind you about the importance of WINTER! We sit down with Erin Sprague, CEO of @protectourwinters — the org turning outdoor people into climate advocates.
We get into how POW is mobilizing skiers, riders, and trail runners into a political force, what shrinking snowpack actually means for mountain towns like ours, and what any of us who live for winter can do beyond just recycling our beer cans.
Also: Erin once ran a marathon in Antarctica. We talk about that too. 🐧

May is for moms. And this month, we're sitting down with one of the most amazing moms we know.

Sherry McConkey is mom to Ayla. Mom to animals lucky enough to cross her path. And through the Shane McConkey EcoChallenge she is helping lead a generation of young people working to protect this planet.

Sherry launched the EcoChallenge through the @ShaneMcConkeyFoundation to support up-and-coming environmental thinkers with the knowledge and skills to solve our world’s most pressing problems. The 2026 winners will be announced soon, so make sure to see what these remarkable students are doing!

"One life, live it. One world, protect it."

Listen/watch now — links in bio. And please remember to like and subscribe!

Want to get involved or nominate a student? Head to shanemcconkey.org/ecochallenge and follow @ShaneMcConkeyEcoChallenge for updates.

Tatsuya teaches us about Omotenashi - the Japanese philosophy of wholehearted, selfless hospitality - and how sustainability is already engrained in Japanese society.

Japanese snacks will also be discussed. 🇯🇵🍫

Happy Lunar New Year! We're back from Japan and galloping into the year of the Fire Horse with The Godfather of freeskiing and this podcast, Mike Douglas @mikedski

Checkout our first in-person podcast, recorded at Arai Resort in Myoko, Japan! Ingrid and Malone share a beer with Mike and talk about the magic of skiing in Japan, the new gear he is sporting, and why he believes slow, sustained pressure is the key to driving real change in the mountains we love.

The Godfather never goes out of style in Japan!

Who knew that a joke about “sh*tty merch” would lead me to make so many special friendships over the years? I’m going to miss this.

Thank you @newmastersounds and Happy New Year everyone!

I can’t comprehend how you’re not on this same plane of existence with me anymore, Hooks. All I know is that there is a space that will never be filled while I remain here. Get the beer pyramid started, and we’ll see you when we get where you are. RIP buddy. by @malone.camp
