I never thought I’d have to address something like this, but here we are. I recently had a disappointing experience purchasing a vehicle from Queensway Hyundai. After taking delivery, I discovered it was missing several features we had specifically discussed, that were present in the vehicle I test drove. I immediately raised my concerns but was initially told nothing could be done. Frustrated, I left an honest, one-star Google review. In a subsequent email, the general manager expressed his dissatisfaction with my review. Eventually, I was offered a reversal to get the vehicle I wanted, but with an additional $1,000 fee. I refused and ultimately accepted the situation. But what happened next concerns me most. Approximately two weeks later, my chiropractic practice received a one-star Google review from an account bearing the same name as someone whose LinkedIn profile lists employment at Queensway Hyundai. I have never treated, met, or interacted with this individual. The review contained no explanation and dropped my business rating from 5.0 to 4.3 stars. The timing and apparent connection are extremely concerning. I cannot confirm whether the accounts belong to the same person or who posted the review, but I have serious questions about whether it could be retaliatory. I’ve raised my concerns with Hyundai Canada and OMVIC and am exploring my options. Consumers should be able to share honest experiences without fearing consequences for their professional lives. Based on my experience, I encourage anyone purchasing a vehicle from Queensway Hyundai to verify every detail before taking delivery. As a chiropractor, I’ve spent years earning the trust of the families I care for. I welcome genuine feedback, positive or negative. But seeing my reputation, and potentially my livelihood, affected by a review I cannot connect to any patient experience is incredibly upsetting. Online reviews have real consequences for small businesses, especially healthcare practices, where trust is everything. To my patients and everyone who has supported my practice, thank you. Becoming a mom has changed me in so many ways - including the way I practice. Going through our own challenges with feeding, oral ties, a very fussy baby, allergies and everything else that came with that first year gave me a completely different perspective. I know what it’s like to be exhausted, worried, searching for answers and just wanting someone to listen when you feel like something isn’t right. Going through those challenges myself made me so much more passionate about helping families who are struggling too.
